My opinion is, until you have enough in the bank to go pay cash for your next car, you drive it till the doors fall off. Cars last a long time now. Save.

Mini cooper S lasted 11 years before i sold it. Money is not that big of a deal. Maximum enjoyment feasible adds decades of life. I simply need advice from people who know the cars i chose in the poll. There also is no news of the “new” twins. Last news said they will exist, news in the spring said they are toast. I dont know validity of people assuming the 2.4 ascent motor being stuck in one of these. Too much speculation for a time where i could easily be dead before that.

Now that is interesting advice. That whole thing made me think. Current interest rates do make me finance as i put my cash into my business. This is a workable perspective you have there though. Hm!

It is exactly what I said back in post 5.
You are not breaking even no matter what you are getting for the car right now and it most certainly isn't "magically" upgrading you to a new blemish free one. There is no magic just money thrown away.

There is a huge difference between RWD and FWD. Even on the street. If you can't feel the difference, you shouldn't even buy a sports car, eh?
One drive in a snowstorm will quickly tell you what kind of car you have.

That is the reason i started to look at selling it now vs when it gets smashed or chips more or has no warranty. Magically erase the car to zero miles.

You don't care about money but your 4 cars on your poll are ~$26k cars? And you're trying to trade it in now because you can get the most money for it now. gtfoh.

If money is no issue, you can get a much better car than a Veloster. Get a Porsche or an M3 or LC or Corvette. But I'm guessing you're just full of __it?

Then you have zero concept of finances. Put that cash into making the current one better, or invest it. If you've put enough miles on it now you know it is not a lemon, there is always the chance the next one will just be hassle after hassle after hassle. It happens.

There is no such thing as magic. You have a car now that will last decades if you take care of it. a $5000 paint job in 15 years is a hell of a lot cheaper than a new car today.

Or if you hate it, trade up. You can get in a slightly used Porsche or Corvette, or save up for the c8.

Or if you like the car so much you want to keep it pristine, buy a used 2013 for $10k or so and beat the crap out of it.

Buying new is always a bad deal. I bought my car 1 year old with 3k miles for $7k off. And that was a bad deal because I could have bought a 2013 FRS for even less.

Save a little more and buy this

Edit:
I have seen this now:
"I have yet to seriously feel a difference between this and a fwd with mechanical differential."

So I change my advice to this, you won't feel any difference

Don't think I hate FW cars. I love them. But they are really different man..

Trading one car payment for another, especially for a duplicate vehicle, seems kinda dumb. 21k miles is practically new anyway. Get the car detailed, buy a new car smell air freshener, and call it a day.

Around ‘21 or ‘22, when the bugs are worked out and you can buy one below MSRP, I’m likely gonna pull the trigger. But the BRZ ain’t going anywhere. I love the underdog status of this car. Recently I had the opportunity to stay right on the tail of an obviously frustrated last gen ZL1 owner in a series of tight switchbacks on a curvy country road. He had what, about 3x the horsepower? But just couldn’t put distance on the BRZ in that situation. Anybody can buy horsepower, hold on, stab the go pedal, and go fast in a straight line. Takes relatively little skill. The BRZ? Now there’s a fun car that I heard someone say is for fast DRIVERS. I think that’s pretty accurate. I’d keep the 17. But to each his own. You’re right, ya can’t take it with you. Whatever you do, have fun doing it!
And it’s also very easy to stay on the tail of a faster car on public roads...
