Just got off the phone with the parts dept at my local dealer (Troncalli, who have paint/body shop on site) and was quoted:
  • $299 for an unpainted bumper cover
  • $16 for the drivers side fog light plastic insert,
  • $305 for paint
  • $126 install labor
For a grand total of $773. Better than expected...

I think I will read the DIY to remove/install the bumper a few times and take the new painted bumper home and swap it myself.

My front and back bumpers are both damaged. Oh well.. I'm just trying to avoid sheet metal damage at this point.

Your dealer for $0. It'll be hard to claim that was negligence.

Probably true, but replacing myself it out of insurance by just purchasing a new painted bumper cover keeps me out of carfax hell. I can keep the damaged bumper as a spare or sell it as is to someone who may want it.

Seeing the pics in this thread I don't feel so bad about the wife's ring scratching the indentation under/behind/below the door handle. Anyone know of a trim cup or piece that will work on this car? I'm hesitant to use a generic roll of stuff, I'd rather have something contoured to the shape.

On the day I brought the BRZ home, I took it out after the family was asleep. Ended up rubbing fenders with a woman when we both tried to turn into the same lane. Rippled the fender a bit, cracked a headlight screw mount, and cracked the paint between the fender and bumper.

Luckily the headlight was available for order, and I should be picking the car back up tomorrow.

Someone parallel parked in a tiny space in front of me and scratched my bumper when pulling out. I was in the car at the time when it happened too I just thought I was idling a bit rough. I thought it was awkward that they were trying to pull out so fast. No pain transfer since it was a volvo with a plastic bumper. Only small scratches across the bumper but still why be an asshole and just dip like that.

it was my fault but I was late to work one day and when I was pulling up to my parking spot I drove over the curb in my haste. so the bottom of my front bumper is messed up, but you can't tell unless you get underneath the car.

just an excuse to get a front lip now

Be a gentleman and open the door for her, free and easy to install and the benifits always come back.

My ding is the most generic and easiest to avoid, run up on concrete curb because I still havn't figured out where the front end of this thing is, someday I'll get it. Still only scratched the underside of the front bumper and Im the only one that knows its there but still it bugs me.

A tree branch decided to drop just as I drove by at about 50mph. Scratched/scuffed up the roof and deck of the trunk. Most of it is minor and looks to be easily polished off. There are some deeper scratches though that are an unknown right now.

Just clear bra that handle cup. That's exactly what I did and it works great!

It's not just to protect from rings...but also finger nails that usually digs in when grabbing for the handle.
They're a lot more noticeable on white cars since dust and dirt tend to get stuck in those nail scratches...
