Help removing yellow spots
So I have these yellow dots on my bumper (pics below), and I can't get them off. You can't feel them with your finger, and soap/water/sponge doesn't do anything. They are the color of egg yolk, or maybe mustard. I'm pretty sure they are stains left by bugs, so I tried my Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover, and it also didn't do anything. I can't touch them.
The car is garaged, and they seem to only happen after driving on the highway. Everything else comes off perfectly fine except for these YELLOW SPOTS OF DOOM. My next idea would be to try clay, but I thought I'd ask the experts here on the forums to see if there is a better method. Thanks in advance! :happy0180: Photos: ((sorry about the crap garage lighting on the photos))

Those spots are fallout from brake dust ect, or very similar to rail rust. Use a clay bar and they will come off.

They look like bug poop. I'm speaking from experience here.
I've seen flies on the car right after a carwash and as I shoo them away, they leave sh*t stains behind. I guess I scared the crap out of them eh? Literally. I have a few on the car from time to time and it's also garaged. Lightly rub it off with a microfibre towel along with some soapy water. Some times it doesn't come off easy so I use my fingernails and carefully scrape it off.

I get those spots all the time. They usually show up first on the rear bumper and are very visible on a light colored car. Trust me it isn't bug poop. Even with a clay bar they are hard to get off. Been there and done that many times.

@DaJoian: I thought these were bug poop as well. You literally can't feel them though, or scratch them with your fingernail. Never seen these before, but this is my first white car, so maybe it's just easier to see on white.

When I worked at a Toyota dealership a guy came in with a white G6 he had bought from the used car department. It had the yellow spots all over it and was thinking the car was rusting out. I couldn't convince him it wasn't till I used a clay bar on an area and it came off. My white MX5 would get bad during the winter and I always had to clay it in the spring.

I got one of those the other day and freaked out cause I just had Opti done. I called my detailer and he said all I had to do was park it in the sun and let it sit for a while and they would go away.
I thought he was crazy, but sure as hell it worked. |

Hilariously enough, this would explain why one spot on the roof seems to have worked itself halfway off.

I have these too. I thought it was bird pee (do birds pee?) but it seems too small to be bird poop. (why is talking about poop always so funny? lol)
They start off like small drops and lay down very flat. Its easy to scrape off but half the time they leave a yellow stain residue. I have one now I can't take off!! Let us know if you were able to polish these off. Thanks! |

Actually, the spots are "spent pollen" aka bee crap...
You let it sit for too long and it'll be damn near impossible to remove. I've tried fine clay, bug n tar remover, tar remover, APC. None of them worked. Only thing I've found that works really well is Finish Kare Decon system. |

The spots Mike show in the pictures are nothing like the ones I get. Mine are very small about the size of a pin head or smaller. I'm convinced they are from small metal debris picked up from the road similar to rail dust. Definitely not insect poop because they build up in the winter also.

MattR, I have the same spots you are talking about on my front bumper. Interestingly enough they showed up after I started having to work at our plant in Raleigh so I've been on the highway all week as opposed to the country roads I am typically driving on. The spots I have look exactly like the ones in your pictures and nothing at all like the "bug poop" pics.

They don't look like the bug poop pics, as they don't have hard edges, are solid in color, and aren't dark brown.
Regardless of what they are, I'll be picking up some clay this weekend and I'll report back with my results. Thanks everyone for all the input :happy0180:
