They stop some, varied by strain and person. They significantly mitigate how sick you get, whether you need a hospital bed, and survival. All the things a good vaccine does.

They lower your chances of incubating enough virus to spread it. They lower the amount of time you are infected. They reduce the amount of time between infection and immune response so you know something is up earlier. Not all benefits are absolute. Statistically significant reduction in spread is a huge benefit by itself. It's a war of attrition at this point and folks who don't get the vaccines have decided they prefer swords to belt fed machine guns.

What exactly is your point? That breakthrough infections still happen? Has anybody here denied that can happen? I don't think I've seen anyone insist that's impossible.

Did those players suffer severe symptoms? No? Then arguably the vaccine did its job.

Did those players go around and do stuff knowing they had tested positive and then spread it? No, because right now there are COVID rules in MLB where if you're infected and test positive, you need to stay in the same city you tested positive in and you're confined to your hotel room for 10 days.

Oh I agree that the vaccine might stop you from dying. Doesn't mean you can't still get it though.
