I believe most only apply if you have a winter tire discount.
I hate driving on my winters when temps go above 10c especially with roughly 500km per week driving.

Yup a friend wanted to see them so figured I'd spend the 10-15 minutes doing the swap.

Also wanted to see if the tires were any good, and they aren't. Ordered new tires the other day.

The new owner of my old tS sent me this photo. I told him to keep the winter tires on until at least April. Yeah it sucks, they wear out so much faster on warm, dry roads.

I have a cordless impact with helps greatly while being motivated to get it done.
I managed to swap wheels and wash the car in 45 minutes. Rinseless washing is way more efficient if car isn't filthy to start.

Did it make a difference? I bought the part when I got my car because I understood they might be hard to get. I haven't felt the need to install it yet.

No kidding.
Mine's been doing it for about a year now. The sound makes my teeth hurt.
One of these days I'll break down and buy the tool I need to remove the drivers seat. I think that would make the job a little easier.

Does anyone know what this fastener is called? It's like a reverse torx.

It's called E-Torx (for External) or external star. Interestingly enough I bought a set of E-Torx sockets thinking I'd need to take out the seats for some modifications, only to discover that they changed to a regular hex bolt in the 2017 facelift.

You'll be calling it plenty of things if you round that head even the smallest bit

E-10 torx if you're able to buy it individually.

Do yourself a favour and replace those stupid E-Torx bolts with the 2017+ hex bolts. Mine started rounding a bit after a handful of removals.

Part numbers are SU003-07863 if buying from Toyota or 901120153 from Subaru.

Drove it at Summit Point for an SCCA HDPE. Yesterday was my first time on track since September, due to a driveline noise. Unfortunately, life has been getting in the way since last year, so I missed the first event at the beginning of March and I only finally got to working on the car last weekend. As a result, I did the rear hub bearings (which was the plan for this winter anyway) and the left axle at the same time. Therefore, I can't say for sure what the source of the noise was. The important thing is that the noise is gone and I had a blast yesterday and today.

Next will be to tear down the axle and look for signs of damage.

Go Fast, Take Chances
