ZDan makes a point. I've also heard great things about General G-MAX AS-03 and Hankook Ventus S1 noble2. Only one of the group I've heard numerous bad things about are the Goodyears.

I hope you don't mind the thread resurrection, however I am in a very similar predicament as the OP here, and am curious to know whether he committed to a particular tire last season and how they fared.

New this year are the DWS 06, which claim to have improved handling, which I think may imply addressing a common complaint about soft sidewalls, but I don't have much to compare against. Right now for me it is a toss-up between the A/S 3 and DWS 06 to replace my OEM summer RE050A tires.

Robwbright, assuming you went with all-season tires last year, which ones did you choose and how well did you think they performed for your purposes?

The new DWS06 are getting lots of good tire reviews on TireRack along with showing good snow performance. I will most likely be getting a set of these soon. They seem like the best true '4 season' tire.

Same issue here, decided on different tires for my two cars.

I replaced the OEM Primacy with A/S 3 at 12k miles after getting a flat on one of them. They were fun in the dry but awful in the wet -- took the flat as an excuse for replacing all four.

The A/S 3 simply inspires confidence in both the dry and the wet. Superb tire. Noise level no higher than the Primacy, comfort-wise barely harsher than the Primacy (and only on bad roads). The installer suggested to go with a lower speed rating for increased comfort, but I wanted "max" performance; IMHO well worth the (very slight) trade-off.

I will be replacing the tires on my C350 this coming November. Will go for DWS 06 as I need one of the cars to be able to handle light snow securely. As an aside, the complaints re: soft sidewalls on the predecessor tire (DWS) were, AFAIK, only for 17in versions -- 18in was stiffer and more precise.

Hope this helps.

If you buy all seasons you'll be compromising the ride every other day that it isn't snowing.

My opinion is that you should buy some cheap CL winters to abuse all winter long, and keep a basic summer and deal with the fact that appropriate tires are part of owning a car, which is magnified on a sports car.

A friend of mine has a set on his Audi A4 and had nothing but positive things to say about them. I saw that TireRack just got them in stock for 215/45 R17.
