I agree with all of that, especially the part where I'm being kind of a wuss about it.

Mrs. Ultra quit a few years before you and she also cannot stop thinking about it. She is also very very thankful that she was able to quit.

I can only imagine the struggle but I do have great respect for it. Stay strong.

I have no idea how I ended up being a nonsmoker. I grew up in NC, the heart (black lung?) of the tobacco industry, my Grandparents grew tobacco, my Uncle was the local perennial tobacco leaf stringing champ at the county fairs, and my elementary school went on field trips to the Phillip Morris plant where they made Camels and Marlboro. Even our high schools had smoking areas outside. I think it was helping crop the nasty plants a few summers. The dried leaves smell great, but the green leaves are gummy and nasty, you can't get the stuff off of you. Let's not even talk about big old tobacco worms!

MomHawk smoked when we met but quit cold turkey the day she found out she was pregnant with our oldest son and has never smoked again (over 31 years). She said the urge does come back if she gets tipsy, but we rarely do that any more.

Several years ago Milwaukee came out with their first Li batteries, salesman convinced me good plan for the work trucks as they used the same battery case as the Nicads. Spent couple thousand on tools. ONE year later they changed the battery case and tools and obsoleted the old ones. Yes you could special order the "old" batteries for twice the price. I asked why they did not make an adapter to use the new batteries. I was told the tools had the smarts to run the batteries. Milwaukee would not help me in any way.
Ryobi has kept the same case for years, they put the battery charging and running smarts in the battery case not the tool.

I do have the little 12v and love them. They have replaced the need for carrying the big tools and are much easier to use overhead. I even have the heated jacket that works well.

I probably indirectly smoke about a pack of cigarettes every time I go have a couple beers and play the slots at the dive bar. One thing I hate about canyon county, there are very few non smoking bars. I've never seen so many smokers as here in Idaho. Seems everyone smokes or vapes.

I tried smoking in high school. Not for me. Both parents smoked growing up. My dad quit about 10 years before he died. My mom quit about 7 years ago when diagnosed with COPD. My older brother smoked until he got bladder cancer about 5 years ago. They tell him it was caused by nicotine. My younger brother was a cigar snob, but I think he even quit when my older brother was diagnosed.

I usually give the older guys a break. When we grew up everyone smoked, hell there were even ash trays in elevators. But the kids... Why?

Last night was my first snow driving with BRZ

Car was great on snow. I can tell it is better than the front wheel cars I've driven before. Last year on the same conditions, with thinner winter tires, FW Renault Clio literally failed on the same test. RW is tricky, but is definitely more fun, and as far as I could tell, it is better. Maybe my tires are nicer, but I don't think so.. With a FW it is harder to steer in the snow, I think..

Anyway this photo is from this morning

Right one was my project 2 summer ago, left one was last summer's project. If I have enough money this summer I plan to build a ... I couldn't find the English word for it. You guys don't build houses for chicken?

House, or shed, yeah.
edit: Chicken Coop ... had to go looking for it.

Might look up "chicken tractor".
It's got wheels on one end and handles on the other with an open bottom.
You can lift it slightly to move around to different areas of the yard so they can pick at new bugs.
My neighbor used to have one.

This is an example, not the neigbors.

I smoked for maybe four years and remember distinctly the moment that I looked down at the cigarette and said to myself, "This is stupid. I don't even really like it."

I believe there is a genetic component to nicotine addiction because in my early twenties I genuinely tried to be a smoker.

I'll just say I'm glad my brain finds the smell of tobacco repulsive. It's so irritating even smelling it second-hand.

Just wish fewer people were addicted! It's super unfortunate.
