I am in the middle of my deal right now and should close within the next day or 2. I am also going after a white/manual 86. Price agreed on was $26100 including paint mark up of $395 and Aquisition fee of $650. Completely base model with zero addons.

I have been working on this since early Jan. and have contacted probably every single Toyota dealer within 150 milez. I found that:

1) There are way more auto than manual, let alone white
2) White is $395 more
3) Inventory is very low, but most dealers are somewhat willing to work with me.
4) Black and red color are the common colors for manual. If you are flexable on color you can probably go lower since these cars in these 2 colors are usually in stock sitting at some lot
5) Be careful of dealer addons

Hope this info helps

That helps a ton and just about mirrors my situation right now. Thanks for detailing and good luck with your sale. Should all work out, we'll have new twin, twins.

My 2013 limited was $3k off list at end of model year. 2014s were on the lot.

Timing and dealer motivation has a lot to do with the deal you get.

I wouldn't peg invoice as a good target either. There are some interesting articles about "invoice creep". best way is deal with the internet sales person at 5 dealerships and let them get into a bidding war for your business.

Also "wring the towel three times". For every offer they make counter. 3 cycles. You will know when you hit their rock bottom by the look on their faces or email tone. It's amateur hour dealing with most of these guys.

Good luck, I paid 25,500 + 699 dealer fee on a 2017 halo manual. It was a lot of back and forth but they finally gave me what I was asking for. Just a tip, I had already been approved by my credit union(I did not show them any proof of this), they were offering a finance special of no payments for 90 days. The dealer gave me a lower rate and also matched the no payments for 90. If you have good credit from what I understand many dealers can do this. You just have to ask or tell them your credit union is doing that. It's a great way to throw a couple months worth of car payments at some mods!

If you're in Canada you can get $750 rebate for running two 5k events, no matter how slow.

Best not to bring up possible trade-in until AFTER you have established a purchase price.

Like above poster said .... get your finances in order before shopping. Rates are going up, so you need to move on this now.

Forget about all the dealer add-ons like extended warranty, paint protection, interior protection, tint, etc. etc. You can always get these yourself afterwards.

Update: I got it A new '17 Halo manual is now home with me.

A couple weeks of email negotiation payed off. Got to an agreed upon sale price of $25,600, the trade-in value I wanted, and the 1.9% financing.

Big thanks to everyone who chimed in, the additional insight was much appreciated

Cheers!
