Car wash. Just hose it down. Use compressed air to get the water out of the places you can't towel, or just let it dry in there

I installed a backup camera this week. Driving it Saturday I decided I didn't like the camera angled down like it was. I had the idea of insetting the camera into the trunk garnish. That would allow me to angle the camera as I wanted and I could also make the camera as invisible as possible. I did it today. I made an aluminum bracket and attached it with some strong two sided adhesive foam tape. it seems rock solid. I think it came out pretty good.

Little bit of engine degreaser and low pressure water should get rid of whatever mess you made. Anything else will burn off over time if it's anywhere near the engine or exhaust header.

And using a funnel will help keep you from having to aim at the oil fill spout so accurately and cut the risk of mess-making considerably. If you don't have one, a quick DIY in a pinch is to take an empty oil quart and cut it in half. Keep the half with the spout on it and put that in the oil fill spout. Instant funnel.

Gave the car a rinse at the local touchless car wash. Didn't get everything, but it's way cleaner than it was. Made sure to wipe the door jambs, too, had plenty of salt/dirt/schmutz going on in those that wasn't going to get touched by the wash.

If there was ever a doubt about how thin the metal on this car is, and how little sound insulation it has, sitting in the car during a pressurized wash will clear those doubts right up.

Completely agree with Juan. It'll cost you a little more but it's well worth it to let someone else install it. Make sure they use some locktite so it won't come loose. Mine came loose after about a week. Couldn't get to 1st or 2nd. Had to take off in 3rd for a day until I got it fixed.

....... be careful next time.

I suggest you use some engine degreaser and a lot of rags.

Get yourself a large funnel, one you can't miss ..........

That's a unique solution. What did you use to cut out the rectangular hole? Any problems with water getting in or did you seal up the space around the camera with, i.e., silicone caulking?

My intention was to make the hole identical to the shape of the camera. I traced the camera onto the trunk garnish and drilled the four corners. starting with a small drill bit and moving up to one that matched the roundness of the camera. then I used a dremel cutting wheel to cut the straight lines in between. I ended up using a dremel sanding drum to finish the shape. I then used touch-up paint to finish the bare plastic.
The trunk garnish has holes in it for the tag lights. It is not waterproof at all so the camera hole does not need to keep water out either. the camera wire goes through a rubber grommet into the trunk. and should be waterproof.
Here's a shot showing how much of the camera is visible.

Very well done and a great idea!

Missing: It's not a factory piece, nor the factory location. Required "le cutting" in order to put it somewhere that didn't have a home for it already. Remember, backup camera only showed up in the last couple of model years thanks to federal government requirements.
