Thoughts on KSport BBKs?
I saw this particular announcement a little while ago:
http://ksportusa.com/2013-fr-s-brz-b...now-available/ Any one have any thoughts/experiences they'd like to share about their previous kits? Also wondering who stocks these and what prices are... |

Rarely will I come out and say something like this about a product....but these are absolutely terrible. They are the same as D2. Please read this post for a good visual demonstration of how crappy they are:
http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-tir...-shacking.html If you need a BBK, save your money and get something else. Please. - Andrew |

Ksport USA was founded in 2003 and started out with 2 employees with a building size of less than 2000 sq. ft. After several expansions, in 2009 they acquired a 25,000 sq. ft. facility in Gilbert, AZ. Their manufacturing facility is over 320,000 sq. ft. and utilizes state of the art machining equipment. They are TUV/ISO 9001:2008 approved which shows their emphasis on manufacturing quality products.
These guys are just like you and I they are serious enthusiasts, they only build GREAT stuff. When I was in AZ they were just starting they were really involved with the tuner community. Just beacuse they give back by having afforable models does not mean their high end stuff or any of their products for that matter are anything less the premium quality.

I'm not addressing Ksport here specifically, just the certifications you are using to attempt to indicate the quality of their product.
ISO & TUV certification have little to do with the quality of the product that you make. They have to do with the quality of your manufacturing processes. pretty big difference. What ISO certs mean is that your end product is consistently the same as what you designed. If your design has flaws, you would still meet ISO standards if those flaws were evident in every product that rolled off the assembly line. And to clarify, who has ISO and TUV certs? Ksport? or the people who manufacture their product?

To me it seems like a waste, S2000 guys have been making incredible lap times on the track with some good pads, rotors, and fluid, all on stock calipers. I don't see any reason why the FRS/BRZ would be any different. Unless you're just looking for bling factor.

I'm not steering, and not looking to fight. When you said "their manufacturing facility is 320,00 sqft" I assumed that meant they outsourced manufacturing to a site with that much space. Thank you for clearing that up.
My statements of fact were around what ISO and TUV certs mean. You were using those to demonstrate product quality which is not what they do. I was simply stating those certs demonstrate product consistency.

I don't know how much resale business Ksport does, but 320,000 sqft of manufacturing space is a lot. The capacity for that space would way out produce what I believe Ksport can sell. Anything is possible, but I highly doubt that 320,000 sqft is needed to produce their product. It has to be a multi use manufacturing site. Good for them if they own it.
When looking at the way those links are written, I would assume manufacturing is 3rd party contract work. Which can be done right. And even if they made the stuff in house doesn't necessarily correlate to the product's effectiveness. So the manufacturing is not core to the discussion I think. I'm assuming a lot as I don't know Ksport, but I do work for a large manufacture, and also worked for the company that invented the ISO processes. So I do have a LITTLE bit of background to draw conclusions from...

BBKs are only really useful on the track but I haven't heard of anyone using, or getting results with, KSport (or D2) brake kits in competitive environments.
If they're serious then they'll need to prove their systems on the track first before I'd consider them.
