But for some reason the stock rear in black does not bother me on my WRX. It’s really the new wheels on the BRZ that makes the silver stock calipers stick out and it would look great with nice calipers.

Painting does not do it, I have been there.

Have you looked at the CTS-V brake swap? Cost effective and quality parts, but it does shift the bias forward ~4% and doesn't significantly reduce weight unless you fork for fancy two part rotors to go with it.

If its for DD, why worried about it being "better"? Also, just slapping bigger calipers on without thinking about brake bias isnt always better.

BBK is about heat management. Better pads and tires help braking performance and stopping distance.

I wasn't kidding about @jeffchap's art. In that thread before he shared his photo, I started out thumbing my nose at the idea. His logo and deliberate choice to paint only the main casting really won me over. IMHO, it looks way more classy than throwing money at a BBK.

Here’s my plan, no rush to do it.

1. Look to see if someone will sell the performance package brakes.
2. Save some money and get stop tech st40 kit. Maybe in silver as I will likely keep the stock rears.
3. 4 and 2 pots.

Thanks for your help and ideas.

Since your purpose is LOOKS I would scrap #2. A big front with puny rears looks stupid

Why the ST40 kit? It has slimmer pickings for pads. The friction rings are way more expensive.

You could almost get the RR racing kit front and back for what the ST40 kit cost.

It’s a daily, I live in NY and drive all winter long. Sure I take my WRX on snow days but the next day I take the BRZ. With salty nasty roads I think my brakes need dust boots. The Wilwood kits don’t have dust boots, at least that’s what I have read in my limited research. ST40 has dust boots.

If there are other options with dust boots let me know.

I have the Willwood 6 pots front and 4 pots rear, no dust boots. I drive in an area near the ocean and constantly deal with rain. So far these brakes have been phenomenal on the road and the track, not noisy at all with the BP10 compounds the kit came with. The only issue I've had is trailbraking into a corner on track, it has pushed the bias to the rear a small amount and caused it to break traction a few times. I'm happy with my selection over what I've seen with the AP front kit alone.

Ernest, either I am misunderstanding something or you are contradicting yourself. There isn't a rear caliper that looks better than stock that is cheaper than the Subaru 2 pots. Likewise, the Subaru 4 pot fronts are the least expensive OEM style option outside of used or reman calipers intended for other cars, with the wrong size pistons. An option to the Subaru 4/2 is to try and pick up a used STI caliper set (also slightly different pistons than the BRZ application), or a Performance Package set.

I read it, and $3600 is an option but absurd based on the conversation.
