Yup, just swap in a 7440 bulb in place of the 7443.

no, the 7440 bulb won't fit into the front turn signal spot.

I got the 7444 (or 7443. I can't remember) and broke off the metal pins for the parking light filament.

Subie, you did this to your own car?

i can see how it makes sense to just break the pins for the parking light wire... but was hoping i can just use a 7440 bulb..

Yeah, I did it to my bulbs for my car. There is no mod to the car or wiring.

The 7444 (or 7443) bulbs are actually cheaper than the 7440 bulbs at autozone.

Breaking the pins on the bulb took like 5 seconds. Find out which filament lights up during the parking light function and follow the leads to the metal pins and bend it back and forth 3-4 times to break off.

I have 7440 LED's in my car, they fit fine. Maybe there's a small difference in size between manufacturers/brands but if I recall correctly, @mezdup had 7440's for his turn signals as well.

Maybe aftermarket parts are made to fit more sockets or they use the same bases for the parts.

The rear blinkers are 7440 (pretty sure). You could try to see if they would fit up front.

yup the front turn signals use 7443 because of the dual filaments. 7443 and 7440 are exactly the same base. the only difference is the extra filament. i'm not sure why @subiestyle had trouble but i ran 7440's in mine for more than a year without issue.

What brand bulbs are the same that you saw?

The Sylvania (which is as close to OEM you can get over the counter) 7444 (or 7443) and 7440 bulbs have different bases. The 7440 bulb has an extra nub or 2. The 7440 socket has an extra set of notches for the nubs to slide into. The 7444 (or 7443) bulbs don't have the extra nubs, so they can slide into the 7440 sockets.

But the 7440 (with the extra nub) won't slide into the correct 7443 socket because the 7443 socket doesn't have the extra notches.

I have some leftover OEM turn signal bulbs from my buddy's G35 (7440) and they fit fine as well in my turn signal socket, they don't have the nubs you speak of. Maybe that's just with the Sylvania brand?
