Just got here. It is my two hour commute day.

Not going to get it started tonight I guess. Want to get some pics and stuff together. I will holler when I post it.

All we have here is manufacturing. Property values are super high, nowhere to rent, jobs pay really well. The "town mafia" aka city council are all local business owners so they block any and all new businesses. The town can't grow. There isn't anywhere for new labor to live and no amenities to make people think it would be a good place to live... fuck greedy politician wannabes...
Sweet, thanks for the info!

I think some were Daihatsu, perhaps the 1st gen xB.

First gen xB in Japan was the Toyota bB. The only US only and therefore actual only Scion car was the tC.

Nope. The tC was sold as the Toyota Zelas in many countries around the world. They didn't sell them as right hand drives though.
Scion was just a marketing arm and there really never was any real Scion cars just badges and a different sales philosophy.

I chuckled when they made the announcement and said that the entire corporate staff of 35 people would be absorbed into Toyota.

Scion is pretty much all rebranded from something else, mostly Toyota, a couple from Subaru and Mazda. The 1st generation tC was the only model that was Scion exclusive, and only sold in the USA. Everything else was either a Toyota first or came out at the same time as a Toyota and Scion.

Scion was an image brand, a way to offer Toyota models in a youth-oriented manner that allowed maximum personalization by only offering cheaper low-grade monospec versions that could be customized to fit. How low-grade they were seemed to diminish as time went on and they ended up finding themselves in about mid-grade levels from the start without the need to add accessories to bring them up to what people wanted.

I feel that by around 2012-2013, Scion no longer mattered, all of the market research into what Scion owners wanted led them to a certain set of base specs for the cars that put them firmly into Toyota territory. It makes sense that they would now be Toyotas. I'm a bit surprised by the loss of the tC, would have had a nice home in Celica badging or similar.

Scion iA = Toyota Yaris Sedan / Toyota Yaris R / Mazda 2
Scion iQ = Toyota iQ
Scion iM = Toyota Auris
Scion FR-S = Toyota 86 / Toyota GT-86 / Toyota FT-86 / Subaru BRZ
Scion tC = Toyota Zelas (2nd Generation Only)
Scion xA = Toyota ist / Toyota xA
Scion xB = Toyota bB / Toyota Rukus / Toyota Corolla Rumion
Scion xD = Toyota ist / Toyota Urban Cruiser

Jeff
