Toyota GT86: 7-months wait in Japan

Via Response.jp:

Toyota has received 7,000 orders for the GT86 since taking orders on February 2nd. As 1,000 units a month will be delivered there is up to a 7 month wait depending on the trim level.

Currently, the GT/GT Limited grade has the highest pre-orders and will require a wait till September. G and RC grades can expect delivery in May.

Initial deliveries in Japan will start next month on April 6th:

Damn September for the GT/GT limited grade? WTF!

Is this going to effect the FR-S?

Another reason to wait!! With the immediate rush of demands, hopefully they won't end up being "Friday" cars.

wait until everyone has one?

there will always be first vs late adopters, actually if you do enough research you can find some interesting psychological analysis of the different groups.

Yeah. I don't mind waiting and based on my previous experience with buying the 1st year productions, it never really yielded any benefit other than satisfying my want and greed factor. I'm fine waiting until initial recalls and TSB's have been addressed and fixed and supply and demand have been met. Don't really need the car now to justify a initial deposit and don't mind being patient about it because I know it'll work out when I do purchase it. :happy0180:

As much as we North Americans yearn for stripper models, I am afraid this is case-in-point that they just don't sell as well as the more feature-laden cars. It goes R, G, GT, GT-L right? So this report is saying the high-end models are seeing the most pre-orders.

Man I really can't wait to drive these cars.

From our own poll on the forum for the BRZ, we are seeing the Limited as being much more popular.

Interesting how the same hardcore enthusiasts who want more driver-focused cars are also the ones with a penchant for bells and whistles.

"Not that there's anything wrong with that.."

^Might be awhile, given the high demand for the 'underpowered' one.
