We are building a new 2.4l flat four. I can say that because we announced it at the New York show. And it drives really, really nicely.

Now this part is pure wish/hope on my end, so ya can't take it as news because I have heard zero about the next gen WRX/STI, but I really hope some form of this motor makes it into the next STI. It'll probably be at least a year and a half, maybe two years before they start to give us any hint of what's coming on the next model.

Is there some sort of official statement on the 2.4? I have found nothing other than different forum theories and car blogs citing those theories.

I eagerly await the WRX/STI on the new platform. Very impressed with the 17 Impreza we got the wife and a performance version may well be a game changer.

I don't know if they put it in writing, but if you can find the video of the reveal, they said the concept is powered by a 2.4. Anyways, yes, it is. reveal is evening of the 28th, so only a few days away.

I hope Subaru actually proves all the naysayers wrong and drops something in the car and we are all like but I doubt it.

Couldn't find the reveal video but the new teaser doesn't really say anything. It is funny though since they apparently could not find a real person to do the voice over so they had the GPS do it.
