They're keeping the front plates. Also they won't be released till Feb 2020. New drivers license this fall.

This just seems like a colossal waste of resources fuck this skeezy Ford government.

I've got a brand new front bumper cover that just needs some finishing work and with the news that they are considering making front plates optional, I'm considering doing the front plate relocation bracket so I don't need to put any holes in my new bumper cover because I'll go plateless in front if I can. Anyone know if I'll run into any legal issues running the relocation bracket here in Ontario?

I might try something more like a plate delete. Depends entirely on what the holes in my bumper look like.

Apparently somebody on the cabinet has had the slogan burned into their brain as much as I have,

Maybe? I didn't pay much attention in school

They drilled into my 17 bumper via the plastic grill trim. They drilled TWO seperate sets of holes. They must have fucked up on the first try.(the distance between the holes was considerably more narrow)

If you take yours off in the end hopefully you fared better than me.

Where did you get that info?
I haven't seen or heard anything about it in the last few days.

https://globalnews.ca/news/5168333/o...licence-cards/

"Yurek also said Monday that licence plates will remain on both the front and back of vehicles across the province, after the government said last week it was considering removing front plates as a cost-cutting measure.
The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police had spoken out against the move, saying eliminating front plates would cut down on the opportunity to identify vehicles involved in crimes."

I am wondering where the image came from. I can't find any official source stating that is the design and colour scheme. They say nothing other than "we be makin' betters"

The plate requirements are pretty basic. The front plate must be on the very front of the vehicle (not in the windshield) but that is all the law says. There is nothing that says it must be centered. The other parts of the law say it must be completely visible. Dirt, tinted covers and even frames that block part of the plate all can get you $100 ticket. Now, I have run covers on my plates for 40 years and never had a cop say a word about them even when I was pulled over for something else so I am not too worried about that. A buddy of mine did get a ticket for a dirty plate that was not legible but he can be a d1ck so probably just pissed the cop off.

Thanks. I read as much of the law as I could find and only found that it needs to be on the front of the vehicle and that it must be clean/legible like you said, just wanted to be sure there wasn't other legislation buried somewhere else that I couldn't find.

Ya it is sort of what isn't said in the law that applies as far as positioning goes. As long as it is on the very front and can be read they really just don't care. There are even a pile of people that have gone without front plates for a long time without issue but I always have seen that just as an invitation to get pulled over.
