3 options for header (looking for advice)
I'm still debated on which header choose, so I'm looking for suggestion.
1) 17+model with gutted cat 2) UEL like JDL, Tomei or Gruppe-S 3) ACE A 350 Now, as prices will be quite different, which power/torque differences do I have to expect? |

UEL is for low/mid range and EL is for top end! At the end of the day it comes down to what you want! I have TOMEI UEL and i am happy with it! Hope this helps!

Gruppe-S is probably the best bang for your money. The differences between all of them are minimal, maybe 5whp at most. Sure you may get some hero dyno numbers claiming one is much better than the other, but that's my 2 cents.
Tune in my opinion is more important.

They both have a basically equal top end, but the A350 will beat any UEL's low end and midrange. The torque dip becomes a torque peak. |

You'll spend an extra grand or so getting that long tube torque curve.

I have the Tomei UEL. In my opinion it's the cheapest way to kill the torque dip(with a tune of course) and gain a little bit of power. I don't know that the top end gains are much if at all, but if you're searching for that delicious linear torque curve, the Tomei/Gruppe-S UEL is an excellent option. You also get a little bit of that classic "dirty" Subaru rumble if you change your muffler. The ACE A350 will make the most top-end AND mid-range. Justin from BTR Garage dyno'd his and it was quite impressive how much gains were had everywhere. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggQspB1P7a4&t=604s[/ame] My 0.02.

198hp with gutted 17+ header, Ecutek Race Rom, Mishimoto intake tube (noise maker and every resonator delete), snorkel mod, OEM air filter, cheap 2.5" overpipe, cheap resonated cat back.
Most of the money spent was on the dyno tuning it, like a good boy/girl should. Unless you are racing and competitive at the pointy end the extra cash outlay for shiny parts is just bragging rights and brand name fetish. LOL, Dip, look at the RPM the dip is at, how the hell do people have issues with that? My tuner said the only real option to flatten out the curve and get a gain up top was a ACE header (which one ICR but RHD), they make more everywhere, have proven well engineered design, he also said as it is a daily, it is not worth the outlay. Pre tune 154hp Post 198hp But dyno numbers really mean nothing, it's the improvements of before and after. 25%? gains, for some cheap parts and some "hammer time", not bad IMO. Gains everywhere. Consumers will consume Shop smart, shop Smart

That stock pull is kinda off, most likely low advance multiplier or strange K00C behaviour that tends to make less power when cat temp is below a pre-set thresholds
Not saying you don't gain from a gutted stock header and tune, but that gain is somehow exaggerate Also, once you try headers that really bump up the dip, you will appreciate them even more and would never go back Regardless if the dip doesn't bother you at this time I'm in for ACE header if one can afford them, they make you feel like having really a more powerfull car and car pulls strong till redline |

I read somewhere that gains with ACE are much lower if you use high octane fuel...
