Love my automatic. Instant shifts using the paddle-shifters or the shifter, and love the convenience of being able to switch it to D whenever I'm driving a short distance or in heavy traffic. Sport mode makes D feel much more lively.

Why are people so close-minded? I like my auto, you like your manual. Nobody should be downgraded because of the gearbox they choose.

Freeway driving out here is awful with plentiful traffic. That being said, this is the first car I'd ever consider in a manual. But I also have to factor in my wife, who does not know how to drive manual either. So when time to buy, it will likely be an automatic.
Same here in that I've never really driven manual before; I've done it sporadically but I definitely wouldn't say I'm comfortable with it. With that said, I did test drive an auto today and felt a tad bored like I wasn't interacting with it enough. Traffic in Atlanta sucks but I may just consider a manual for this one.

For anyone learning a manual for the first time drive with no shoes on initially. It REALLY helps you learn the clutch/gas feel and makes hill starts that much easier.

It's been a long time since but I was a little apprehensive about taking my first MT out on the road. I took my shoes off and drove around a parking lot for like 5 minutes before I felt immensely more comfortable.

I went with auto because I sit in at least an hour of traffic twice a day Monday to Friday. As much as I enjoy driving manual I really didn't want to sit there in traffic regretting my decision, a point which I've gotten to in the past. Yea, I definitely miss it when I'm not in traffic but in all honesty i think i made the right choice. Also the paddle shifting is pretty fun.

I wouldn't even consider any auto transmission if there's a manual option available.

Sure sitting in traffic sucks, blah blah but that's not enough of a reason to avoid the manual tranny

Fair enough but to each their own. I'm enjoying my AT and I'm sure I'll enjoy it more when I've crossed the 1000 mi mark and can use the sport shifter freely when I'm not in traffic.

I had fun driving the auto, but it was always going to be a manual for me. And I live in LA. With the traffic. And I daily drive it. It's really not bad at all, the clutch is light. You sissies bitching about driving the MT in LA traffic need to harden the fuck up.

Like I said I bought the manual, but had the auto been a dual clutch unit like the DSG or PDK I would have gone that route, even if it was a $3K option.

Though I don't agree with directing it at the auto guys. To each his own.

I agree!! Plus I'll be 43 when I get mine.. and my knees arent totally what they used to be..lol. I've had Tiptronic type transmissions before.. but these new ones are truly the best of both worlds!
