I switched to try a theory we had. I still need to get the car on the dyno but we did notice the car was quieter with the 3 inch with the hemholtz resonator vs the 2.5 that did not have it. Also the 3 inch matches up awesome to the header.

The reason it makes less power before 4000 rpms, most dyne's I've seen it's actually before 3500 rpms, is because this header does what pretty much every other header does. It moves the torque dip down lower into the rpm range. Where this header does better than most is the mid range. If you go back far enough and look at the dyno sheet @Shneegle provided, everywhere above 3500 rpms he made more torque and more power and that was with what I consider a "meh" tune. He switched to another tuner, and granted he hasn't been back to the dyno yet to confirm, but with the new tune he says it feels much smoother and I wouldn't doubt that it made even more power.

The million dollar question is the dip noticeable. Does the car feel slower in that RPM range compared to stock when driving around on a day to day basis?

With my current setup my car has more power on the overall than it had stock the dip does not exist in the form it did prior. My low end power is not hampered.

Did you go with a 3" or 2.5?

I will try to be as unbiased as I can when I say this. After driving my BRZ which is still on the stock header, and then riding in @Jason@Nameless BRZ with the full exhaust and tune, his car absolutely RIPS compared to mine.

It's no contest.

Realistically, the only time you would notice that is if you tried to apply throttle at 3k instead of just downshifting (which would make more sense anyways). If you are taking off from a dig in 1st, you don't even remotely feel it.

That would be me, going extremely slow in the rain with stock tires.

I did a combination of 3" from the header to the catback then 2.5" for the catback

Sounds good. This was the info I was looking for. Im not trying to compromise any low end power from off the line while I bank up for the SC. Looking forward to getting the mid/overpipe in a couple of weeks.

Man this thread really died.

Would anyone that has had one of these headers for more than 2 months be willing to post their long term opinions on this header?

I've had mine for a while, super happy with it. No issues to speak of. No rattles, no CEL, very noticeable improvement in response and torque.

I have had mine since March.

It works great. no issues with it. The fit was spot on, just follow directions during the install. You will need to unbolt the passenger side engine mount and jack up the engine to install it correctly. Take your time and line up the overpipe correctly and bolt it all up. I would suggest the custom combination 3 inch overpipe/ high flow catted front pipe w/ Hemholtz resonator that necks down to the 2.5 inch where it connects to the catback. With this and a tune it will be spot on.

You have the headers with no tune and no CEL? I just installed my headers a few days ago and already have a CEL. I reset the battery incase it was a blip or something and it came back in about 15 miles.
