No. I'm going to pull it out this week or next week at work. New motor should get here tomorrow or the next day. Can't wait. I done a couple of motor swaps, but never taken out a boxer!. so taking out mine should be even more fun. I'm putting off the turbo to the side for a while until I Finnish school or get a better job. fun while it lasted.

I'll keep you guys posted guys
It was a driver error. So to Let everyone know. Kind of embarrassing so I don't want to get to into detail

I'm pretty sure I have a boost gauge laying around... I'll rig something up this weekend so I can see in car what the boost actually is and go from there. Really sucks that I have to get it retuned for something so simple. I am amazed a reputable shop like that would tune a car without a proper MAP sensor considering the engine will have a hard time protecting itself if you spike boost.
To follow up on this, I did check my MAP, and it didn't have anything written on it so I assumed it was stock.

However, to be 100% sure, I had a boost gauge laying around that I rigged up and took it for a test drive. Sure enough, boosted right at 9psi. I don't like that the ECU doesn't have any idea how much boost the engine is seeing and consequently can't protect the engine. I will probably get it retuned long term... gonna have to save up some cash to drop on it though.

Also need an oil cooler and some brakes!

A month prior to my blown motor, i would always have a hard time getting the car into boost and the car would also hesitate and struggle while trying to get into boost. What first caught my attention while taken off the avo kit was that this hose was torn int two places... time to buy a more durable hose I guess...

Hey guys , just thinking here , you think by changing the avo silicone hose from my avo cai to the turbo to a custom aluminium pipe would make a difference ? Or would heat soak be a problem ?

Difference as in
Sound
Performance
Spool?

Aluminum will heat up way faster than the silicone hose would so if you're frequently standing still in traffic it would be a concern if you're worried about IAT's creeping

True, but keep in mind that a fat pipe does not make as much contact with passing air as thin piping like an intercooler. So yes the outer boundary layer of passing air in the intake piping will absorb some of that heat, the majority of the air passing through the pipe will not come in contact with the pipe walls. You can also do things to help decrease the heat absorption if that's a concern for you, like wrapping the pipe with exhaust wrap. We used thick black wrinkle finish powder coating on ours.

Hard piping also increases boost response due to having less flex and expansion. Spool won't be affected, and sound may be a little louder, but I didn't notice much difference in sound when we switched ours over to custom hard piping.

Long time lurker here.

Have a July build 2012 GT86 manual that has run an AVO Stage 1 kit since March 2013. This is with a stock overpipe and frontpipe, and AVO's 2.5" resonated catback, sitting on 18" TE37SL with low profile tyres.

She has seen a bit of a hard life - I daily'd it from the time it was boosted at 18,000km through to 78,000km. It hasn't missed a beat in this time. At the 60,000km mark I decided we would swap the "stock" 5psi spring for an 8psi actuator, EBCS, fuel pump, 1000cc injectors and E85 with an Ecutek tune - the one and only dyno run it had was 240whp on E65 (Dyno Dynamics hearbreaker dyno) but with an erratic boost profile (peaked at 7.5psi at 4,000rpm and was down to 4psi at 7,000rpm. Learned that my spring was faulty and not pulling as much boost as the box said - have since swapped it for a 12psi spring with a "safe" non-dyno tune for RON98 and E85.

Curiously, while the 12psi was working as advertised on bench test, I only pulled about 9-10psi - apparently due to a pressure drop across the intercooler.

Haven't driven it for seven months (rural hospital attachment) but am back now - awaiting an Empire 2.5" overpipe, MAP resonated catless 2.5" frontpipe and a Hypertune Intercooler. Have decided I'll probably end up running 16lb at most, get a dyno tune and call it a day. I guess 1000cc injectors are a bit of overkill.

Will keep you all posted :-)

Silly question; If I'm installing an EBCS, do I need to upgrade the wg actuator or can i just stick with the 5-7psi one that it came with?

Rule of thumb, the boost you intend to run should not exceed double the WG spring.

Hi Guys,

I've bought a 2nd hand stage 1.5 kit for my wife's Toyota 86. Her car is an auto and the manual refers to rerouting pipes for the brake booster air pump.

I live in a rural Australia town 1400km from the closest Subaru dealer and I cant source these OEM pipes.

26140CA070
26140CA090
26144CA020

The manual mentions you can use aftermarket hose.

Does anyone know the internal diameter of these hoses

Also is there a particular page in this thread that notes all the Torque values everything is suppose to be fastened to. This is the first time I've seen an install manual for auto parts without this information, kind of frustrating.

Thanks in advance

Hey guys, has anyone else had issues with the turbo inlet tube slowly working it's way off the turbo? I haven't been able to figure out a solution all year. I've tried all I could think of. If anyone else has encountered this I'd love to hear about a solution. Thanks

Won't boost in freezing weather

Hello everyone,

Was wondering if anyone else had a problem with boosting in really cold weather. My car feels like its misfiring when hitting boost in below freezing temps.. no problem whatsoever when the weather is warmer than freezing.

I seem to remember an ECUTek had an SD issue on older versions of Racerom that was caused by low temps. How old is your tune?
