Its not really a step by step thing, you pull the radio, cut the VSS wire and put a switch in it, and ground the grey ebrake wire. That thread has a picture of where the VSS is cut which is the most difficult part.

I am getting and installing a pioneer nav deck soon and plan on doing all the bypasses myself... this is still somewhat confusing to someone not terribly familiar with auto wiring.

He put a physical toggle switch in so that he can ground out the speed sensor allowing him to use the gps when he wants. The speed sensor is used to help the gps keep track of the vehicle in times of poor gps signal, so the gps works with the speed sensor off; but it may be less accurate. If the gps needs help he can now switch it back to having the speed sensor, but the head unit will lock hm out again.

If it is a non nav unit you just put a toggle switch on the parking brake wire and when you want to use VIM flip the switch. |

Or for the AVH and AppRadio models get a microbypass. $20 on Amazon, 3 wires connect to the harness, done.

So I went ahead with ordering the Beat Sonic wiring harness that's posted in this thread, since I'm not good with wiring and just wanted to do something simple. When going to install the harness, it's the wrong size. So at this point I'm very frustrated because the box says Subaru on it. I want something simple....and I'm not completely confident in my abilities to cut n splice wires.

so the ground would be the pink wire? or is it the black and blue wire? and once i cut it i just re-attach a wire to extend the wire to the chassis and plug the connector back into the HU? Last edited by Rsktrance4mer; 05-06-2013 at 11:26 PM. |
