Thumbs up There is a new window switch available to fix the passenger auto up/down issue

As of this morning, there is a new window switch available with improved logic to fix the auto up/down issue with the passenger-side window. This is the word straight from SoA after dealing with Subaru and my dealer for months on this issue (and on others), including a visit from a Subaru district rep. and field engineer. My dealer has ordered the new switch and I'll be having it installed soon. If you go to the dealer and they order a new switch I cannot guarantee it will be the new part number; I will try to get it from the dealer (in case it's different from the old one) and post it here for you tomorrow.

Edit: Apparently the new window switch is not yet order-able. My dealer is working with Subaru in order to do so on Monday of next week. The dealer could not provide me with the part number today, but hopefully will be able to do so on Monday.

Edit 3/11: My dealer either could not or would not provide me with the part number. I will have to wait until I bring the car in to get it for you unfortunately.

Edit 4/1: The revised part number is 83071CA011. I'm still waiting for it to arrive at the dealer to evaluate whether or not it truly solves the issue.

Edit 4/11: I had the new part installed yesterday. I tried repeatedly to duplicate the failure today and could not do so. I am cautiously giving the new part my sign of approval!

The part number should be listed on the receipt, so make sure you get one.

I aim to call the dealer tomorrow in advance of my actual appointment which has not yet been scheduled. For reference, the old P/N is 83071CA010. You do not want this.

Oh great, you have the old number. I'll check tomorrow at work to see if this old part number supersedes on our end too to a new one for the Scion guys.

I had my window switch replaced once already before the new part came out.

According to the parts catalog (Toyota), the new part started being used in December, 2012.

So I had the issue in my old frs. Had the switch swapped months ago and same thing. My new car switch feels completely different when hitting the passenger auto. There is a clear feel of just a tap and a full push for auto. It works exactly how I would want one to work. Ill have the door card pulled off in a few weeks to do sound deadening. Ill check the part number. New build date of this car is 1/13 as opposed to 5/12 of the last car.

I took my car to the dealer yesterday and had the window switch replaced. I don't notice a huge difference in the feel of the switch as compared to my old one although I did not test the two side-by-side. So far I have been unable to duplicate the failure that I saw with the previous part, and thus I am cautiously giving the new part a thumbs-up. I recommend anyone else having this issue to go to the dealer and have a new window switch ordered, ensuring that the dealership orders & installs the new part and not the old one.
