Break in's over!

Look out cook out!

Now to change the shift indicator warning..... I was thinking that turning it off entirely is the best idea.

I've been level headed, without babying the engine during this first 1K mi. My revs would approach and sometimes top 4K without going more than 4200 rpm during spirited shifts. I feel pretty good about the restraint that I displayed. Felt that pushing it a little was a good thing however.

Contemplating an oil change tomorrow.

I hit 900 yesterday and threw my restraint away doing a couple of 5500 shifts... lol...

It's close enough...

My break in ended when I drove the car off the lot

Heh, after babying mine, the first redline shift was @1,004 miles last weekend. Such a sweet sound, like a well-tuned inline 4 and at least as smooth.

Might as well shut off the light, it blinks at redline regardless.

What oil and filter will you use? I'm switching to Redline 0W-20, what the TRD-prepped celebrity race cars use. Still undecided on which filter, tho.

I'm going with Toyota 0w-20... at 7 bucks a quart and 7.50 for an OEM filter... you can't really get a better deal...

Oh? That's synthetic, right? Plus I get monthly mailers from my dealer for parts and service specials, currently 20% off. It would also keep the car under warranty just in case of an oil related failure.

I know routine service is included in our cars, but I don't let anyone else touch my cars. Call it bonding, justifiable paranoia or just the pleasure of working on the car, I'd rather do it myself.

yep, full synthetic.

I'm doing the 1000 mile oil change (because I can, dammit!) this weekend... I just need to do 70 more miles...
