my younger sister and her husband just bought their first house. a little rough, mostly needs a good cleaning and some paint at a minimum, but good base at least.

last i heard, their official time table was that they were going to move in after 3 weeks. during those 3 weeks, they are going to:

strip down to the studs and remodel a bathroom
clean all the walls
replace all the trim
paint
remodel the kitchen
gut the finished basement
re-landscape the back yard(overgrown trees, and a huge garden they already admit to not having time for)
add can lights throughout
re-frame the garage and install a new door/opener so it opens into the alley instead of the driveway
re-frame a bedroom wall they feel is excessive to make the area larger.

i was just there tonight for a little, helping take down one of the trees in the back yard. i told them i was just going to do it, they decided to show up to help. they haven't been there for 2 days.

but they're going to get all of this done in 3 weeks.
Yep, them and how many contractors?

Oh, jest leave em be. The worst case is that won't have a bathroom to clean up in, or a kitchen to cook in, or any place to sleep (that's furnished), but they will have learned a valuable lesson -

Last a few months, I often see this in the morning

which reminds me @soundman98. Sometimes I'm so sleepy that I think, "oh he came here"

There's also three available for your personal use if you have $8.5M US laying around burning a hole in your flight suit.

Then, if you want to set up your own Top Gun program you can buy Paul Allen's MIG-29.

Agh Amy Jo Johnson. The one true Pink Power Ranger, and still on my "if she shows up at the door" freebie list. Still looking great at 49.

As an individual fighter, yes something like the Su-47 is super badass. The way the F35 works in a squadron is what really makes it amazing though. Don't forget too that the level of stealth determines how far away you can shoot (front or behind whatever). And in modern warfare the shooting usually starts further than the naked eye can see. The F22 can take out like 50 targets or something from before it can even be seen.. ON RADAR. So as much coming down to a dogfight sounds cool it's probably* not going to happen. And anyway drones can out maneuver any manned aircraft, so manned fighters themselves are becoming sort of dated. I am looking forward to Top Gun 2020 though because I'm part of a dying breed of pilots in general.

If it comes down to US/Allied aircraft dogfighting any worthy opponents (i.e Russian Migs) we are all fucked anyway. Let’s face it if things get that bad it won’t be an isolated incident.

Just like with most things, I feel like movies have given me an unrealistic expectation about how a real fighter jet dog fight would actually look. I'm betting it's pretty boring (unless you're in one of the planes, of course)

Same.

My dad was always super into Top Gun, The Right Stuff, Apollo 13, etc.

Even got my brother and I into playing fighter plane sims with a joystick back then, in the 90's.

Top Gun 2020 will hopefully be good. At the very least I'd like the soundtrack and visuals to be beautiful.

Man, I lament not getting into Macross (and I struggle to go back and watch older anime), but I loved Frontier. At the time, it was one of the most beautiful shows I'd watched. Now though, I don't think there's a show that can touch the beauty that is Violet Evergarden.

Yes I do follow, single incidents are hard to predict or explain. Five times with about an 80,000 yr cycle each time with the same temperature change is a pattern.
