Hard start ??

Well yesterday I was leaving to see a movie and the car had time to get cold from when I got back from work, I tried starting it but it failed, maybe I cranked it 2 seconds at most, tried again and started after 3 seconds of the starter spinning. No other issues when driving or once it's started.

After work today, it did the same thing... anyone else had the same problem? I'm thinking it might just be the key transponder lagging or me tying to start it too fast...

1000 KM, no CEL.

I think the car (seems to) flood way too easy. If it does not start up after 2 spins or 3 spins, then it really needs a lot more spins to start.

I will start waiting for my red key light to stop flashing before cranking it up, I'll post my findings.

I think the biggest thing is to wait until you hear the fuel pump stop priming. This usually takes a good 2-3 seconds from when the key is in the on position.

Happened to me the 3rd time in a 8 days period, still no CEL. This time I waited for the key light to be off.

I'd like to bring it in to the dealer, but I got no CEL and it doesn't do it all the time. They'll probably just note it and send me off on my way.
What would you guys do? Wait until it's "really" broken????

Funny you mention that, it's happened to me twice now but about 700 miles ago and hasn't happened since. Both times it was very hot out, like 105+.

Hope you get it figured out.

It happened to me very early on. What i figured out was that i was pushing the brake down so far that my heel was clipping the gas just enough to open the throttle, and flood the engine. Like Rob_g says... it floods easily.

Not trying to revive an old thread but did the OP ever find out what was going on? Have had this happen to me several times too and it's very inconsistent. Not really sure what it is, the engine seems to hesitate a bit and "shudders" kind of like the shudder you'd feel when you're in too low of a gear or the engine is about to stall.

I had the car for 15 months now and only had this hard start thing happen 4-5 times. I don't even remember the last time it did it. Break in issue? I don't know. Fixed itself. I drive that thing everyday too.

I've got push button start and it did it to me twice last week. Once in 40's (F) and once about 20. I've never had a modern vehicle do this to me. They always just start.

Are you holding the start button down? You're only supposed to push it in one motion 'click'.

I suppose I could have mentioned that I've got 6000 miles on it. I know how to start it.
