I bought a new xB in 2012, sold it in 2013 and bought get FR-S (yup, idiot move), but my FR-S is $250/year cheaper to insure with identical coverage.

So its been about a week since by accident, and trust me i miss my car soooo much. I'm just hoping i get her back soon, but at the same time , I rather it take a little longer and get the best job done possible. My mechanic says the body damage isnt too bad, and that my rack and pinion broke. So i believe the rack and pinion just came in yesterday, so now I'm simply just waiting. My concern is, do you guys think the car will drive the same after being repaired, thats really my main concern right now. To my knowledge there was no unibody damage or anything, just the rack and pinion snapped. So what do you guys think, will she ever drive the same as she did prior to the accident?

@dad&sonFRS it'll drive the same, don't worry about a thing. Just be glad you're safe and that the car is fixed, be careful, and everything will be fine

When I was 18 I got a new 96 Tacoma paid for everything myself. About 3 months after I got it I was racing somebody down a beach road the stop sign was the finish.

The race was really close and the stop sign was rapidly approaching but I just couldn't slow down I had to beat him. It was really late at night and there's usually nobody around. But wouldn't you know it somebody slowly rolls through the intersection. I cut the wheel and just missed the guy doin like 90mph brakes locked up the whole time.
I left about 50-60 ft of skid marks and went up somebody's lawn and took out their bush. I just slammed into reverse and got out of there.
The next day when my dad saw it he slapped me in the face. Only time pops ever hit me and I deserved it. That wasn't the end of the pain for me had to pay for the new parts and fix it myself.

Sometimes, it's good to be old with no accident history. I pay 148/month for full coverage on 3 vehicles with 2 drivers. Ex miliatry/ USAA doesn't hurt.

That sucks.
If he was understeering, getting on the brakes a bit is what you want to do to shift more weight up front. But he probably did brake too hard rather than a tap to transfer the weight.

And I totally agree with the guy who noted the tires. It still blows my mind how people will spend lots of money on tuning their engines and brakes but yet, use the crappiest tires. Tires can make the difference between a non-event and a crash.

I remember when I first got my car, it was used and had worn budget brand tires. I lost control of the car three times with them but fortunately managed to not crash. When I switched to some quality Michelins, I have never lost control of my car ever since - even when I push it very hard. If it starts to slide out, I can always bring it back whereas before, it would just suddenly give out and there was no chance of saving it. Moral of the story: you don't want to mess around with tires. If you have to trash the tires on a new car or motorcycle - so be it. It's not worth risking your vehicle or life, IMO.

Don't feel bad OP. I saw a guy on the grand central this morning. Crashed his car into the siderail. The road was damp after the rain. No dirt or anything in the road and no other cars around him. Shit happens

Sorry you had to learn this way. IMO none of us are actually any good at driving until we've had about 5 years of experience. We all have to go through the experience of understeer, oversteer, and poor weather conditions before we adequately know how to correct the situations. It's just some of us have enough room for screwing up and others do not and are unlucky.

Hope you get it fixed soon and you're happy with the bodyshops work!

I'm 43 and a quarter. Well, to be fair, approximately 43.26.
