2JZ swap?

Uras and now speedhunters working on toyota 86 with 2JZ, whats your opinion about it?

Lot of power available but, what about the handling?

It'll be front heavy as a mug, but damn it'll make some power!

I wouldn't do it myself, but I approve on the grounds of 'Why the hell not?!?'

considering that i have been doing JZ swaps for some time now (miata,240sx,sc300/400. and supras) i thought about this same idea, yes it will fit like a glove but the car will loose its fun factor that it was given, unless you keep the stock twins on the 2jz then the car will just be a cool highway car instead of a track car

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9w4QQVGRBk"]2JZ miata swapped / conversion. single turbo - YouTube[/ame]

theres a video of the 2jz miata me and a few buddies built from a friends garage

its a 2JZGE with a na-t turbo kit the engine sits a lil high but if he would have gone with a front sump oil pan we could have lowered the engine some more. the car actually had fueling issues as the owner wanted to stick with just a safc and doing a blow through maf setup, he is now in the process of going even bigger turbo and using a aem fic,

heres how the car currently looks as it sits he is doing meth injection so no FMIC and he had to turn the turbo backwards to clear somethings

An all-aluminum LSx would be a better match for this car if it will fit. Low-weight as far back as possible.

I would love to do it myself, in DR they are lots of parts available for 2jz, and almost every mechanic has work with a 2jz, but i dont want to lose the fun factor, the so i guess i might stay with FA20 and spend money on it

It makes a pretty cool highway monster/drag car and gives an excuse to mean wide wheels in the back.

2J was a great engine 15 years ago. great peak power. but not great power under the curve, or great hp to lb ratio. Big indestructible iron block is good for going in straight lines. But heck, even toyota swapped it out for something more effective for JGTC...
