Anyone every done a 3 inch straight pipe?

So I’m planning on welding together a custom exhaust similar to TJ Hunt’s setup. It’s basically a 3 inch straight pipe from the overpipe and back. I’m also grabbing UEL headers(any recommendations)? Anyways, I was wondering how a 3 inch straight pipe would sound. Tj’s car sounds so good but the other straight pipe videos on youtube sound like riced out hondas.

So thats what gave his car the nice tone it has compared to the cars?
If I had UEL headers and a 3inch SP, would it sound bad like the examples on youtube?

I probably wouldn't use that car as a benchmark for anything.

Straight pipe with catless UEL sounds horrible.

Thats what I assumed... But why does Tj’s car sound not raspy at all, its loud while still sounding deep?

just look up Tomei 60R or 80R exhaust sound clips, and imagine your car sound 10x as loud/worse.

that's how it will sound.

It's the turbo charger. Because the exhaust is being routed to the turbo housing and then spun around and dumped out the back, you don't get the raw sound coming out of the engine like you would if you had the straight pipe setup like the one you're describing. The turbo ends up muffling a lot of the noise because of all the obstacles in the exhaust's path.

never in the history of ever should anyone do a 3" anything on a non-turbo car, period
-it will sound like a straight-piped asshole
-not only will you not gain any power, you will actually lose torque
-if you want some decent sound to your car either get a good cat-back exhaust or save up and go the turbo route
