It is heart-breaking to hear that people are messing with your cars.

I dont work in the best neighborhood so I make sure to park where its on a security camera. I didnt think about drawing unwanted attention until i got the car. This thing really stands out.

My sister owned my old Jag X-Type before me. She lives in Rego Park, Queens which isn't the worst place in queens. Within a week of owning it, her leaper hood mascot was stolen. I'm not particularly surprised because those hood ornaments are pretty expensive and a good way to score some quick cash.
Though it sounds like someone is actively trying to mess with you. Do you always park in the same general area? Do you live in an apartment building and if so, could you have possibly pissed off one of your neighbors? Sure you could try putting a camera in the car and it could stop the problem. Though it can also make it worse if a guy just doesn't car and you could just piss him off more if you try to bring the authorities into it since they probably won't do anything. You're probably better off just finding a new place to park. If it continues after that, then there is clearly something personal going on. |

After much research, this one seems good:

Street parking in Manhattan is where I'm having the problem. I've never had a problem parking anywhere in Queens so I wouldn't worry about parking there. What area?

This car attracts a lot of attention, and unfortunately some of it will be negative. This is just one of the reasons I won't purchase this car until I own a house with a garage to put it in.

It sounds personal. I don't think it's because of the car by itself. The dash cam idea is solid (Provided they don't break in and steal it). A car alarm with a proximity sensor would be nice too. I plan on adding one to my car once it comes in.
As for the .45 advice, I'm not sure what your laws are up in NY. But even in Florida, you can't shoot someone for messing with your car (Unless you're in it and they are trying to gain entry). But I think it's someone who is targeting you specifically or someone else, but they think your car is the other person's. My current car draws a lot of attention. More than the FR-S will likely draw for me, I'm sure. But I haven't had to deal with vandalism like that. So it's not the car. Good luck.
