This code wouldn’t come on due to improper bleeding.

Sorry, I misspoke earlier about the continuity check between the steering angle sensor and ESP unit. I forgot the SAS is connected to the Electronic Power Steering ECU, which then broadcasts this info over CAN-BUS. So SAS and ESP aren’t connected directly. However, I still think it’s worth investigating if the SAS is faulty - I’d try reinstalling the original ESP and try replacing the SAS if possible.

@steve99 is right - the ESP ECUs on these cars aren’t paired to a specific vehicle or VIN. It should be plug and play assuming the replacement is also from a similar vehicle variant (same transmission, etc). Since this fault is present with both, I’d do your troubleshooting with the original unit.

@BPM did you ever figure this out? I got the C1288 code right after I flashed my car with a Moto East tune.

was just a tune thing, nothing mechanical. all fixed now

Were you on ecutek ? Ive had similar stuff happen with racerom 10,

and 11, hopefulpy new ver 11.1 raceeom sort this out
