Annnd again an update on my P0351, tracked it yesterday and guess what...

Not DTC AT ALL !

So look like swapped the coil and heat protected them "solved" my problem.

It's great to make a track session without this damn light on.

New one! P0353, days before Nationals!

I had a friend in parts pull strings to get one in house, getting it changed Saturday morning.

Crap.

Same behavior as previous, got it during ~80% throttle, 2-3 shift around 5500rpm

Only one 10mm bolt holding it in. I just replaced it myself rather easily in about 20 minutes. Removed the three 10mm bolts holding in the ECU on the black fuel rail cover carefully after stuffing some shop towels below to catch any dropped bolts. Zip tied the box out of the way on the strut brace so it doesn't slide into anything. Then I grabbed the coil and pulled it straight out and then up to get the whole thing out. Pressed the connector down and pulled it off and the new one went back in just as easily. Just need patience and dexterity and it's pretty painless. The drivers side coils wouldn't be as easy, though, since there's more stuff in the way.

I put everything back the way it was and secured all the bolts before starting it again. Then I went for a drive and got everything nice and hot before doing a couple WOT pulls to redline and all is well. No more CEL.
I noticed the part # ends in 651. Most of the discount parts suppliers list the coil with part # ending in 650. Has there been a factory change ?

I still haven't addressed this yet as I have no track time in the short term and there are no issues with street driving

Yes AFAIK the part number has been updated but I don't know if the part has actually been revised or not. I would assume so.

My number 3 was replaced and the car made a noticeable improvement.

Just in time to load it up and haul to Lincoln, where I am now

The saga continues....

3/13 - I replaced all of my coils with Okadas after my cylinder one factory coil failed with P0351 code.

2/14 I replace my cylinder one Okada coil after getting the P0351 code again.

This weekend, after running on a hot track, the P0315 code popped up again.
9/14 I replaced my cylinder one Okada coil again.

I'm averaging 7 months per coil now on cylinder one.

Put a call in with my local stealership to see if I can get one of each and compare. Will update if I have any luck.

This sounds like it could be the plug itself? Have you tried replacing the plug or harness, or at least confirmed the coil was bad by swapping with cylinder 3, or even a buddies car?

I swapped the cylinder one plug once already, when my DI seal failed, and the coils continued to fail.
I haven't tried swapping coils across cylinders yet but have kept all of the "bad" ones.

DTC - PO351

I am also experiencing P0351 CEL.

N/A, EcuTek Tune, catless header & midpipe
Tracked the car in June @ Sebring for the 1st time.
On the 4th of 5 sessions the code came up. Cleared it with Ecutek @ the track and ran the 5th session without recreating the code.

Tracked the car again 10/11, after the warm up session it came up once again.
I went ahead and cleared it and it came up every session throughout the day.
The car appeared to be running fine, AFR was in range...

Car has 40k miles & only 2 track events...

From what I'm reading, I think I'm going to try new plugs & a new OE coil...
Probably take a spare with me to the track...

I like the idea of the Aluminum ECU bracket, will probably try that out as well...
I will post my results...

Seeing how the exhaust is only a few inches below these 1 & 3 coils, I'm going to try a pipe shield, found this:

http://www.designengineering.com/cat...um-pipe-shield

I am however concerned about the injector issues, but I haven't encountered any fuel or injector DTC's...

Thanks

FYI there is a 652 part number now. I've been using a pair in my car for several thousand miles and a pair of track events. Wrapped mine in gold tape.
