Help! Battery died, charged battery now getting all sorts of error codes!
So my battery died today, so I put on an automatic charger for a couple hours. Told me fully charge so I disconnected the charger. When I start my car, I'm getting all sorts of error codes?
Do I just need to reset something? Or did I screw something up? |

If you have obd scanner reset codes with that.
Else remove barry negitive terminal, press brake to bleed off any residual power, reconnect battery terminal.of ok your good if your srill getting codes its likely battry is still suspect check volts and read codes. |

Then, I suggest you do what @steve99 suggests. Also, you may wish to check the voltage this way (borrow a voltmeter): http://www.aa1car.com/library/battery_runs_down.htm While you're messen with it, you may wish to clean the battery terminals. If the battery still acts up, I suggest you have it "load tested" at a shop. As you know, this is not a good time of year to have a weak battery ..... especially in Canada....... humfrz |

Have you guys been checking the fluid level in the cells? The OEM unit is a conventional battery requiring periodic maintenance. It WILL boil off.
Technically, outgas as molecular hydrogen and oxygen through electrolysis but, meh... potayto-potahto

No. I'm saying take care of your battery and it will live a long healthy life. Neglect it and it probably won't last much longer than 15 months.
...give or take.

By disconnecting the battery, it gives the system a chance to "right" itself. Codes can be "erased" by most code readers, although they may come back, unless the root cause is fixed. Inexpensive code readers can be purchased at most auto shops ..... a code reader is a good tool to have. humfrz |

Update, took it to the dealer and yes, all the codes were being thrown because of weak battery. Switched out for a 600cca battery, hopefully I will be able to start my car in the winter reliably now, lol. Also apparently I installed two of my winter tires backwards, oops!
