Knocking Noise Near Driver Seat

I've been hearing a knocking noise when I come to a complete stop or taking off from a complete stop near my driver seat or under it. I looked under and there's nothing there. Anyone else have experience with this? Things to check? I tried lubing the rails and nothing happens.

I can jump up and down in my seat and rock it and sometimes it will make that knock noise.

Well, @N1rve , first thing I would try, is to look under the seat and tighten any bolts I could see and get to.

If that didn't stop the knocking noise, I'd be tempted to take the seat completely out of the car and check the adjusting mechanisms for lose, broken or warn parts and make sure all bolts/nuts were tight.

Don't forget to check the return springs for the mechanisms (if there are any) and while the seat is out, check to make sure there isn't a lose, broken or out of place seat cushion spring (if these seats have them).

That ought to take care of your Saturday morning .....

Well I tried tightening what I can see without taking off the chair, I guess that wasn't any luck.

Tripple checked that forsure especially since I was wary if I touched any other panels when I installed my perrin exhaust.

Panels may seem firm but under wind pressure may shake/vibrate.

Just my .02C not Canadian.

So what did the dealer find?

I have my car for 3 years now, and my driver seat has started making the knocking noises recently, too. Just like how you described it, the noise is usually induced when taking off from a complete stop.

Oops, forgot about this thread.

The dealer found nothing, I took it to an independent mechanic who road with me and found out it's a NATURAL noise of the car. It's the reverse lockout of the transmission clicking into place. For some odd reason my car is very loud and the way to solve it is to put paste lube directly onto the reverse lockout and made it less noisy. I still hear a slight tapping but it's significantly lower in volume.

Originally checked the exhaust, seat rails, and E-brake and those were not the cause.
