Agreed! I LOL'd at the words of wisdom... Stock block, go over 20 psi to make sure break it good and replace, rinse repeat.

Please, don't keep it at anything below 20 psi or you run the risk of NOT putting a nice window on it!!!

Yeah, tbh, I'll probably run 25 on the stock block.. Full blown was pushing close that and getting 604whp on the stock block, if my engine goes put, I want to make it go with a bang! You know? Especially since I only have access to 91, I think for my WHP goals I'll see best results with that stock block.. I knew I should have went knockin' on doors for sponsorships...

"Hi, my name is Brody. I've been talking to your neighbors about the wonders of our lord Jesus Christ and the wonderful Bible which tells his story. Now I'd like to know if you're interested in participating in a sponsoring program in order for me to be in competitive car scene and so I can build my block. It's our Lords wish Sir, please support the cause." SMH. Hahahaa

Edit: I by no means intend to offend anyone, especially a jahovas witness, this is purely a sarcastic post.

No I've rebuilt American V8's and German I-6's. I was just asking an innocent question I have never seen or heard of anyone in real life (not on the internet) who built a Subaru. Not saying its impossible just never seen it done. Sue Me.

Briefly looking at the service manual it doesn't look easy to do much more than R&R and I will wager that 90%+ of bad Subaru owners just order new shortblock's rather than try to put forged crank, rods, and pistons in the ugly duckling. I think modifying a Subaru shortblock is harder than most will admit.

There's hundreds of built scooby engines in PR, hell, we have the fastest FA20 powered FR-S here, which has a built shortblock and its pushing over 550 WHP

That's cool to hear. What are we calling a built shortblock? Forged rods and pistons with the factory crank? What sort of machining does the crank require to accept the rods? Do they have better rod bearings? than factory?

Huh?

I haven't rebuilt a Subaru motor but have rebuilt other boxers (in my garage even, DIY style...) and can't imagine what about these blocks would make them "disposable".

Yeah, while it requires precision, patience and effort (seems to be lacking in some shops.. cough cough) it's not rocket science nor is it really that difficult.

I have plans on just replacing my short block with another one of them disposable short blocks.. definitely the way to go since I'm not sponsored.

Getting off topic, but I am going on 4000 miles of boost.. and my car sees 20.5-22 psi on pump gas every day. No track days though, that will come with the built motor and better cooling by next spring. No window in my engine (yet). *knock on wood* However, I do plan on building an engine this summer.. just haven't made my mind up on the details yet.
