I hope all the new CAI's (FA20, Perrin, VMS) force the "other manufacturers" to rethink their designs

To be honest I've been to busy and lazy about my Airaid intake but I just can't ignore all of this data. I'm either going back to stock or buying another system . I like what I see with the FA20 CAI, but I don't like the fact that you have to remove the bumper since it's a pita for me. Hmm...

The VMS intake features clean bends, clean welds on 6061 aluminum, CNC machined MAF housing, wrinkle black finished piping, Mishimoto silicone couplers and really nice hose clamps, K&N dry filter, perfect fitment without removing the bumper... what more could you ask for at $280 shipped?

I dont think we've seen any true CAI (VMS, Perrin, FA20club) get independently dyno'd by an end user yet so the answer to your question is to be determined.

Both the VMS and Perrin CAI picked up about +5whp in their testing on a stock ECU tune.

Referring to the FA20 CAI?

No, I was referring to the VMS CAI. The FA20 was not available in wrinkle black finish when I ordered. I edited my post for clarity.

Decisions decisions...

Do I just get a drop in and go back to stock? Or do I get another CAI?

coming from the supposedly better Airraid intake, the dyno proved the claim wrong. The stock airbox is really good as it is and doesnt really need to be changed

Argg that makes things worse since I removed the snorkel from the bumper. Meaning I'll have to remove the bumper to go back to fully stock.

Once you remove the bumper once, it's pretty easy from there. The true CAI's will definitely have a better spot there in the bumper than under the hood, imo.

You can actually bend the bumper back and squeeze the stock piece in if you're careful.

Yeah I pulled it back to take the snorkel out in the first place it was a major pita. Especially doing it all myself.

I would go with the full bumper removal. There's a few bolts on the bottom that need to be removed to allow it to pull off easier.
