The Highest Amount of Horsepower

I'm likely not going to do any track stuff with my FR-S, and I am likely not going to do very much (if any) work to boost this cars Horsepower. However, I am nevertheless interested in just how far a person could go to increase it, without completely replacing everything. I'm not very familiar with how much 'this and that' increases horsepower, but trying to learn.

So, out of curiosity, I'm wondering what's the highest Horsepower you've seen coming from an FR-S? And what was done to achieve that?

I'd say I've seen turbo kits (turbo, admission, exhaust, ...) rated 380HP... but obviously if you change everything (motoro included) you can get whatever you want.


I think that by changing the admission + exhaust you can aim 230 and reduce the torque dip (the cosworth kit does that from what I know)

NA like he said around 230 base, 196 wheel, ESC/ bolt on's/ E85 around 235whl, 270base, Traditional FI look at FBM's car .

I believe at 250whp or so, you're replacing the clutch. Not long after, you need a fuel pump upgrade and better cooling. Then you soon need injectors, axles, a new rear diff, and a return fuel system. Needing to build the bottom depends on design choices you've made in your system. The more torque at lower rpm, the harder the bottom end gets beaten upon. You're not going to go far beyond 300whp without serious upgrades, and you probably won't be able to beat upon the car with that much power unless you make the upgrades. In the meantime, if you're running big power, you should have bigger brakes and upgraded suspension to handle it all. Oh, and to get to 300whp, you're probably looking at a complete exhaust system.

The moral of the story is to buy used parts.

Horsepower has nothing to do with clutch. Torque is the only limiting factor on a clutch. And you think you can get 250 without a full exhaust?

For my part I'll never do anything like this, I think the car's got a good balance between power and all the rest (just the torque dip is a shame all the same, regardless of maximums)... if you just want power at Nissan 370Z is probably better for a similar price (or a Megane RS, quite popular around here)

Yes, but he asked horsepower, and at 250WHP, you're getting to new clutch torque. As for 250WHP without an exhaust, of course? The stock exhaust flows pretty darn well. It's certainly over-sized for 200hp.

Not sure if this is the same engine or what's in it, but the description says that this FRS has 470 hp

thats @fabron, hes local to Hampton Roads and currently on deployment.

he has the factory engine on stock internals. i believe he's running 20psi, custom header, and custom exhaust on E85.

I did 250whp with full factory exhaust ... only mod was vortech supercharger.

Excuse my cluelessness but what are you referring to when you say "admission"?

not sure your definition of "replacing everything" but here is a almost 700hp fa20 got all new internals though. stock transmission!
