Generally you can see Edmonton's wealth distribution kinda goes highest in the SW -> NE which has a lower level of wealth. That being said there are wonderful neighborhoods across the entire city. I live more in the south central-ish area (around southgate) and love it. Whyte, though not the nicest area in parts, is a pretty central area to move to if you're a bit younger. Closer to the U of A the nicer. Most newer areas on the outskirts are fine too.

Areas to REALLY avoid, though, would be Beverly, Chinatown (though there have been a few nicer buildings go up here, would still avoid), certain parts of Claireview, 118th ave, Abbotsfield. The NE just really isn't all that nice.

Personal opinion though, I'm sure some people live in those areas and like it. West end in general is fine for apartments.. Around West Ed though I've heard its not that nice.
pretty much.....

but in the Northeast, anything North of 153 Ave is fine

Im preparing my resume and portfolio for the begining of April, im not out of the Navy until the 28th.

What im trying to do is see if I can get endentured as an apprentice service tech. I did my schooling here, but without a red seal certification im not licensed to practice outside of Nova Scotia.

Worst case scenario, I'll have to start at a tire and lube shop and wait for an opportunity. Although from what ive been reading, people are screaming for anyone that can hold a wrench and show up on time.

Well at least now with the snow going we can get out and buy mods and enjoy our cars more since we don't have to worry about playoff tickets. To the Edmonton guys on this board, Ottawa feels your pain. Great expectations and shit results. Next year I guess. With Toronto falling apart again, looks like only Montreal will represent Canada in the playoffs. Pathetic!!!!!!!

I am planning on moving to the Calgary area this summer - looking for some employment opportunities!

I have been searching for jobs for the last couple months without much luck. I am a young mechanical engineer with a couple years of experience in the automotive industry so I figured getting into the energy sector would be my best bet.

I am really looking for a fast paced environment. I don't really have a preference for industry, just looking for a good company.

If anyone living out there has any suggestions - a place you work at, someone you know, or just a company that I should look at - let me know!

Thanks in advance!

What were you doing in the auto industry? I am just curious because I want to get a different job instead of service advising but want to stay in the auto industry, I only have a Automotive Service Tech diploma in terms of schooling though.

I work as a mechanical design engineer at a tier 1 supplier - Multimatic. We don't work on cars too much (except for our race team). We mostly have the engineering side of it and we have the manufacturing side.
