...... I was thinking the same thing.

Maybe we should take up a collection and buy that man an extension cord .....

Well, so much for the extension cord idea ...... down here, the copper thieves would have that sucker in a minute.

Seriously, if your car's battery is healthy, it should be able to sit for at least a week and still start the car.

I figured something like that. Just wanted to give you props before the trolls swoop in.

Quick PSA: Lead acid batteries self-discharge. This means that even without the parasitic ECU/Radio standby loads, just storing a battery in the corner of the garage, it's best to hook up a float charger to keep it crispy and fresh.

True. It is, after all, an frs. If it was a brz, I'd start worrying after a couple days.

Yep, I hear them BRZs have some aggressive dark current ......

Maybe it just keeps all them fancy do dad things on standby, ready to leap into action .....

Drove my car, left lights on 12min. Battery died.

Took significant other to mountain spot where you can see stars and town perfectly...20min of radio, battery died.

Parked on side of college to call someone. 5min with all lights on, battery died.

Checked cables, washed/scrubbed terminals, then jumped. Drove 1/2 hour then next day sat in car listening to music 10min. Guess what? Battery effin died.

My father came by and said my car belonged in trash because battery wouldn't last. Then he said, "...by the way, liquid ok in battery?"

I checked, was so low it took 5 water bottles approximately to fill. Ran for 20min around town. Car is perfect now.

Moral, please check battery liquid monthly! Don't be that guy.

The BRZ/FRS has pretty high parasitic drain just sitting. I ended up replacing 3 batteries in a year while learning more about this.

My dealer didn't have any idea what a normal draw was when they measured 125mA phantom draw on my BRZ. Then they measured their brand new one on the showroom floor and it was over 200mA.

By comparison, the Forester and Outback are closer to 30mA.

If I don't drive the BRZ for 2 weeks, the battery will read low or be flat. I left for 3 weeks once and came back to find it reading 2V.

Also - if you have the keyless start fob and you park close enough to where you store the fob inside the house, the car and fob will continue talking to each other which will accelerate your battery drain.

All fun lessons learned the hard way.

I tested for a parasitic draw and the power windows drew the current Seems odd why. Anyone have a guess?, had my new Odyssey battery go after 3 days of no start. So 2 or more days I will put on a 2 amp charge .

Yeah, I didn't drive mine for 10 days, and the battery went dead. After 8 days of not driving it, it took longer to start. So I got a NoCo charger and will charge it once a week or so.

My old 58 Ford with a 7 year old battery sat for a year and started on the first try. Three days of no start and a dead battery is inconceivable to me.

You mean the windows were drawing power all the time? Even with the car off?

Yep! I forget the amperage, I'll have to test it again, and one day I'll just pull the power window fuses and let it sit for 3 days off charge. If it starts then my theory is confirmed.

There will be times when I go out to the garage and I hear something electrical going on in the car, even though I hadn't driven it for several hours. It sounds like a humming. The sound seems to be in the rear, near the fuel tank. If I start the car up, and shut it off right away, the sound stops.

Any ideas on what that could be?
