I'd love a solution incorporating a 3rd brake light into the OEM rear spoiler. Let me know if anyone's working on that atm.
This is one project I wanna tackle, however I'd need a prototype spoiler for trials. Unfortunately, I can't spare mine. I also thought about exchanging the Subaru logo, it'd probably be much easier than with the spoiler but also kinda ugly. Though the OEM style is worse, of course.... |

my issue is mounting it where its no vissible from the inside. its so hard to get it right, the other issue is sealing it off from the inside, othersie when you press the brake it simply reflects off teh glass and lights the inside up.

Have you sourced a light that looks on par with the BMW or Tesla Sedan? I'm thinking this mod would be a great way to delete that ugly monstrocity on our rear shelf.

Want to solve this problem? Just tint your back window, and it doesn't look ugly from the outside. And well, that's really all that matters. It becomes less noticeable from the inside too once the light from outside is cut out by the tint. Go 20% like I did.

been annoyed by the stock ugly brake light myself and, in light of my upcoming tint, went and solved it (for me at least).
State laws are a fudging pain in the nether regions - very gently put - so LED strips were out of the question. Didn't want to tackle moisture buildup issues by putting it into the rear spoiler so i figured..... let's just lower the light. See what happened: after some trial, turns out this mod was SUPER easy and I honestly can't think of a reason why this wasn't thought of by the engineers. Well, at least now I get a free-er rear view again. Don't really notice the little bump anymore, now. though the minorest glitches have to be fixed still, gonna do that in 2 minutes this weekend. |

I did this. Put an LED strip at the top on the back of the headliner, cut a hole in the rear deck to allow more bass into the cabin, and built a cover plate where the brake light used to be:

I dont find both solutions very clean, one may easily see that theres been some modding going on. As i always appreciate ppl unfamiliar w the car to think it looks srock i value a clean finish, no gaps, no visible changes.
