Very nice article, and very positive. I think my point of view is very similar than theirs!
I agree. I read some where in MotorTrend or Car&Driver, they lapped FRS/BRZ faster than the GTI. Probably a track layout issue, and they get a more powerful GTI in the Europe.

It's strange that it's so much quicker. Nice article however, every reviewer is lyrical about this car.
Because it was a different track...

So what's up with the wide range of 0-60 and 1/4 mile times across all of these studies?

I've seen anywhere from 6.2 to 7.4 0-60's
and
Anywhere from 14.8 to 15.7.

7.4 and 15.7 is horrible

Because there's a huge torque valley right in the middle of your power band (3-4.5k-ish). It's VERY noticeable when driving normally, and I can't even imagine how much it would impact you on a track. I'll find out Sunday (Autobahn IL woooo!), but considering that you'd be braking down into that RPM range quite often for turns, having to downshift because of it slows you down when it shouldn't have to.

I completely understand where you're coming from and maybe I'm confused here but I personally don't consider 3-4.5k to be daily driving revs. Yes I'm up there on a daily basis but for getting around town and just using my car as a means of transportation, I don't think I ever shift past 3k.

Good review. I had calculated the same front to rear weight ratio when the tech manual became available. I am glad that I am not crazy...I think.
