New Sub System.. What do you guys think? Advice?
So I have a 2013 Scion FR-S and I recently purchased 2 12' Alpine 12D4 Type Rs and 2 MRP-M500-Alpine Monoblock 500 Watt RMS amps (one for each). Any Ideas on what type of enclosure I should do? Or where and what position to face them? and if anyone was curious about the headunit, I have this Pioneer AVH-P2400BT. I was planning on building a custom enclosure with some lights and all for the show part lol But I figured while I'm trying to find all the specifics of what I'm going to do I would post it here and see what you guys thought =) So any suggestions or advice would be awesome!

I installed my two 12" Alpine's that I've had since 2005. I wound up creating two separate sealed enclosures and used the spare tire well for air space. The subs are inverted in the corners of the trunk.
It sounds really good but my amplifiers are way too big. You're in better shape with those Alpine amps. Here's my build thread with a decent amount of pics: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13425 Good luck with the build. Two 12s isn't truly necessary - may want to consider just one unless you've got time on your hands.

Can I just say over kill? I am using an older M500 model and I am running 2 JL 10's off it. They run extremely well.

Well I originally Bought them for my Jeep grand cherokee. But I never got them installed because a week after they came in the mail I bought the FR-S... So I figured I would just put them in there. But I'm probably just going to go with one 12. Or sell em for 2 8s.... I havent decided yet

you can have 2 12" subs if you want, I am not against that. I meant that two amps of that caliber is overkill. you could run the two 12's off the one amp. (quite sure of it anyway)
I hear the FR-S rattles quite a bit with subs in the trunk tho. two very well powered 12" Alpine Type R's may really show that off. Quote:

I would just run 1, single 12 with 500w will be plenty.

If they're the new Type R subs, they're actually 1000-1100watts RMS each. The old Type R's are 500watts RMS.
One MRP-M500 will not power two Alpine Type R 12's effectively. (old or new Type R's) |

There's definitely rattle but honestly it's not that bad. The worst rattle I have is the rear view mirror. Every once in a while I have to take it completely off and snap it back in.

The Toyota 86 comes with a full spare, no trunk liner, which just did not look the part, so I decided to fit Rockford Fosgate 8" sub built into the spare with 2 x Rockford Fosgate Punch subs hidden away behind the spare.
This build allowed me to keep full boot, with a cover for the sub if luggage required. Sound is perfect, just that extra bass that is required. |

Ive had 1 Alpine 12 R in my tC for the past 5 years or so and i can't imagine having more then that in a vehicle this size. JL makes a 8W3 that i plan on putting in the FR-S when it arrives, it should be more then enough, unless youre planning on annoying your neighbors or rattling your trunk to pieces.
