Sounds like a cool concept. I probably wouldn't do it myself, but it would be nice to see someone that has just because they can.

The basis is two hyabusa engines, but they're 1.3L each so these are bored and stroked a bit, plus head work and different cams to get the 400hp I believe.

Plus for the cost of $30k (new) or $15k-$18k (used) it isn't that great of a deal. For that sort of money there are plenty of other options, including building up the FA20 to get all the power you could want (maybe not 400 but 300 could be possible with the right parts). If RPM's are your thing then maybe a Mazda rotary would be more to your liking.
The cost alone should be a deal breaker, you can get far better performance for way less money.

It's the only option on the atom v8's.

See above, $30k new or just under $20k used.

It actually makes 170ish ftlbs from 2,500 up to 5,750 then it comes on cam and starts to climb to the 245ftlb peak..... so... it may not be so bad

http://www.h1v8.com/page/page/4550396.htm

Now, where did i put that extra 30k i had laying around the other day...

Having done other engine conversions (I will NEVER do another one), the costs involved with this even assuming that you did the custom motor/transmission mounts, exhaust, bellhousing, ignition, engine management, ect. are astronomical when done properly. Then, would the car really be streetable after?

Still, its is an awesome engine! If someone were to build a dedicated track car and had $80k to spend, it would rule assuming that a sanctioned racing body would allow such a car.

The H1V8 is in the Ariel Atom 500. Its a $50,000 engine. I have a 4 cylinder GM ecotec in my atom that is turbocharged and Im making more torque than this V8. Sure it can rev to 10,000 and weighs less. But its sure nice to have a $2500 engine if I ever needed to replace it rather than a $50k one.

it's in development thats about as much as anyone knows, i looked at this engine and thought it would be great. i mean with twin turbos the V8 can make about a 1000 crank hp (google it some guy did it) and would still probably weigh about 50lbs less than an FA20 (my best guess on engine weight is 340) even more that an FA20 Turbo setup.

IMO the V10 will probably weigh about 275lbs or so and be 600hp ~330tq don't quote me on that but it would be bad ass. probably 50+k or so for the engine.

The Atom V8 is a beast i've sat in one and revved it but the owner would not let me drive it. took me for a ride though.

You could buy a cosworth 600 block for 16 grand brand new and built and a turbo kit + custom everything for under a 30 grand total. This is a waste of money IMHO

while that is true, the H1V8 is a much smaller package, making it a little easier to package.
