Engine Leveler?

A ? for those who have lifted the FA20 out of their 86.
Did you use/need an engine leveller for your hoist?
And did you pull the engine with or without the manual tranny still attached?
I have no-issue removing the tranny first but wonder if I should invest in a leveller to ease removal and post rebuild install.
Thanks in advance for your educated reply.

In for the discussion. Do you think you might pull other engines in the future? I use two together but transverse engines can be real bitches. I haven't yet had to pull my fa20.

I used a leveler. Worth the Harbor Freight investment. Sold it for almost what I paid.

Yes, worthwhile for tilting. Left transmission in place

Engine levelers are great especially if you'll be pulling the engine or many others frequently.
One thing I've done in the past when my leveler wasn't available or being used else where, was to use a ratchet strap(s) to adjust the angle of the engine. Obviously just be careful you don't have it attached somewhere that could break, or where the strap could get cut and tear causing the engine to swing or move.

I don't usually use one for FA/FB motors.

They usually come out pretty flat already.

If you are leaving the trans in place, coming out it doesn't matter. Going in it helps quite a bit.

Pulling with trans attached, 100% would want a leveler. It would be so much easier.
