Honestly, it doesn't sound like this larger blower is worth it for people who are not also doing internals.
Also don't know at what whp/torque they popped at. If the blower was pushing 400+ when it blew or if it blew at minimal boost levels similar to a 210's 70mm setup.

Look forward!

Well, one is tuned by toni - it'll pop let alone not using E85.
The other was also tuned by someone of questionable skills, on basically US 91.
These two cases represent the worse case scenarios.

Surely someone decent at tuning (neither of the above) and has common sense (again, neither of the above) to tune with E85 would do a much better job, especially when it appears he'll be doing it systematically?

I just might down the road (interested in this setup). For now I'm happy with making 600 to the wheels on 93 although it comes in 12mpg

Today is the big day. I had to run out of town, and the guys were able to finish up the hardware portion so I can come back in tonight and get the base tune in. We started with our base 210 tune, and then obviously turned down the cam timing and ignition timing. To err on the safe side, ethanol was added to get about a 60% mixture. We're running the Deatschwerks 700cc injectors and the DW65c fuel pump with our flex fuel kit.

Starting it up we had some misfire issues on #2 (this car has had it) and after some hard revving we cleared up and went for a drive.

Initial impressions: The Sprintex base (210) kit makes the car act like a strong v6. This kit? Strong v8. Having tuned just about every variant of this car, I'm incredibly pleased with the power and response. With the winter tires on the car 1st-3rd is a spin fest at WOT. 4th was loose, at 4,500 RPM. Yup, that potent. It isn't just the tires though, it has a ton of pull before it breaks them loose.

But we all know a big blower makes big power. More importantly, we're doing this with timing in the teens, on E60, and very rich AFRs. That means we're at a good baseline with plenty to go.

I know most everyone wants to know if this kit will work on pump gas vs e60. I think it will work as well as any other kit. I'd guess we're 12-14 psi or so, but that's 12-14 psi starting at 2500 rpm. Estimated since we don't have a boost source hooked up yet. We'll run down some of the ethanol gradually and watch the knock counts as we dilute it out. Tuning will be 100% the determining factor here IMO, but we've done tons of 14+ psi systems and I don't see any issue with this kit doing it vs another.

We'll keep updating as we rack up the miles and get more findings. The car sees about 18k/year and we even put snows on it so it can remain the DD.

Until then enjoy the media and the glorious sounds from our shorty intake!

I'm liking the torque claims, when can we expect to start seeing some graphs of the new unit? PD blowers tend to have lower peak numbers so it'll be hard to steal the limelight from turbos and centris. I'm curious to see how this progresses.

There have been graphs posted and I don't doubt them for a second. Honestly I'm having a hard time justifying the dyno trip. We know we're detuning, and without building the motor we won't find out the limits. Our one other kit went to a built motor customer so perhaps he will share his findings when it is time. If anyone with a built motor wants to try this experiment (or non built...) there are still a few systems left for the brave.

For our car, it pulls plenty strong up top. I'd have to be in 4th or 5th to be able to redline it currently with any sort of traction in the winter, which just ain't happening on public roads

I'm much more interested in seeing how much timing we can run on both e85 and pump. That will have a much more important figure in the commercial viability of the kit and how many Sprintex sends our way on the next boat.

I'm liking the sticker on that intake pipe. Does it only come supplied with the 335 kits?

Does this have an intercooler just like the 210 kit?

@moto-mike

Can you source just the upgrade parts to a 210 I/C kit ? Blower, snout and rear elbow.

We can source anything...but that won't make sense for most folks. You can buy a new 335 kit for a bit over 5 and get it in a week, sell your old one for at least 3000-3500, and you're out 1500 while getting a new blower. A 335 by itself will cost you over that, and the old 210 really carries very little resale by itself.

We can get it, but you'd have to pay and wait a couple of months until the parts ship from down under.
