So why is the title of this "Sad times" when you're having a baby and getting to keep your car?

Congrats

On becoming a new dad. Also, on those nights where the baby refuses to sleep, load him/her up in the FRS and go out for an all nighter, the child will sleep and you get to enjoy the car. When my son was an infant, the only sure way to get him to sleep when he wasn't feeling well was to take him for a long drive. Great times for sure.

It is called "sad times" because of my wife crying on the way home from the dealership. It was sad times for her. But I am really lucky to be able to keep my car. My dad had a corvette when my sister came and he traded it in for a dodge colt. Ouch. So, again, I feel super lucky and I have the best wife ever.

Also, I have been really impressed with the corolla! I cannot believe what all features it has on it. Since we got it with the manual it came with sat nav, sunroof, push button start, and it is really comfortable. It does all that while getting 37 mpg highway! It is really the best equipped car we drove in it's class.

First of all congratulations. I was like you not long ago (2 years which have flown by). At the time we were living in Japan and expecting a baby threw a huge wrench into everything.

I'm glad you were able to keep your FR-S
My son loves the FR-S (aka Daddy car). We got him the red Corvette power wheels for Christmas so he can have his own "daddy car" - no FRS/BRZ power wheels yet

But he loves it. It's fun having a son that loves cars already. You're a lucky guy to have a wife that enjoys cars as well!

Congrats! I'm a father of two myself. I have a 1 year old and a 2 year old. Your life will change big time. I used to love my video games as well. After our first was born I was too spent during my "free time" to even want to play a game. It seemed more like a chore. Now with two I can tell you that nothing much has changed. I have the new systems and I don't know why I even bought them. You will be busy.

As for the stay at home dad thing? Good luck with that. My wife is a teacher and far more patient than I am. I would rather work in a coal mine than have to take on the stay at home dad role. I love my kids don't get me wrong but I'm convinced you will have the tougher job. Good luck man!

PS
I'm still rocking my FRS and my daughter loves it. She makes engine sounds whenever she sees it.

This isn't sad, this is awesome! Congrats on the baby - let your wife drive the FRS and she will forget the 500. If she doesn't drive stick, teach her!

Win-win here!

Congrats on baby, It will change your life in a good way (I have 2 Girls).

As for FRS, you should keep it, by the time the kids cant sit in the back, the FRS will be beat up anyways.

At first I'm thinking "Wow, his wife is awesome for letting him keep the FRS!", until I kept reading and realized that she only let you keep it so she can drive it!

At any rate, congrats on the pregnancy! At least you'll still get to look at the FRS every day

First congrats on the upcoming baby! Second, what an awesome wife letting you keep the FR-S.

You can also use the FR-S rear seats for kids if really pressed to.

Getting rid of a fiat, having a new baby, keeping the FRS, and even getting a corolla... this all sounds like good news to me. Congrats.

There was a flood of emotion and then the thought process began. Do we need to move to make more room? Who's going to take care of the baby? Can I still play xbox with a baby sleeping? What do we do with the Walking Dead compendium? And the biggest question: what are we going to do about the car???

The problem with the cars is while I have an awesome car I have always wanted ( I have always loved rwd cars from japan,) my wife has a blue fiat 500 she loves. It was her first love and we have driven that car everywhere. We drove it from tennessee to freakin' Texas and back. So, my first thought is crap, there goes the frs. Sad times.

But, good news, my wife understands cars! She said she knows that she loves her car, but mine is different and in the long run we would miss the frs more.
So, today we traded the blue fiat 500 for a new corolla. My wife cried on the way home and I can totally understand. I will also be crying in about 9 months because we decided that I am going to be a stay-at-home dad. That means she is going to driving the frs to work and I get the corolla.

Sorry for the long post and thanks for reading.
There are certain decisions to make in life buddy, and I am glad that you have made the right choice for your.

I am too in the Similar Boat, just a slight different that I had to sell my VR4 which I have treasured for years

And now, I am Itching for another Fun to drive car. Just have to wait

The best will come to those who has patience
