What group were you with to run at COTA, and how much did it cost?

Going to a drift event this Sunday, and at Police Academy of all places.
My car from last event.

Great pictures from my friend of the event.

Thought it looked pretty good for the most part, nicely done, and spins happen. The only advice I have is don't be afraid to let go of the wheel at times, you don't have to hang on to it all the time.

What size and type of tires did you run, and how long did they last?
Also, where and how did you mount your camera in the car? I've only mounted mine to my helmet, and the video gets blown out with bright sunshine, can't see the track in videos.

Looks good.

As mentioned above, I would try and let the steering wheel do more of the work so you can keep a good firm grip on the wheel with your hands, rather than rotating on your palm. All it takes is one slip of the wheel from that hand, and you're going into a wall.

Everything else looks good though. Just keep going out and having fun.

Thank you guys, i feel quite noobish so i'm very happy to read you both think the run was good.
So it looks like i need to pay less attention to the wheel and (maybe) more to the throttle, isn't it?
The reason i say this is that i realized i have some problem with transitions (too snappy) that right now i'm trying to solve with the wheel, but looking (hearing) at the video i realized i have the natural tendency to push down the throttle at the end of the turn (love the (bad) feeling ) forcing me to lift off just before the transition, making the rear more lightweight and snappy
I think that learning how to use the throttle will make transitions smoother giving me more confidence with the wheel

Tires was Roadstone (Nexen) N6000 215/45R17 and they survived two 30 minute sessions without any damage (they took me home without problems)
Shoulder is awfully soft (was used to AD08R), but they do the job pretty well allowing very easy weight shifting...and they are very cheap

My camera mount is a simple piece of wood with two (tight) holes for the headrest, nothing fancy but does the job very well

What a few of us did too counter the snappy tendencies of the car, was remove the front sway bar. Granted, we ran coilovers with stiffer springs up front to help support the weight the sway bar was in transition, but by ditching the front sway bar, it helped a lot.

The car felt much better afterwards.

Just want to say +1 for buying an 86 to get sideways. Love this car and hope to get it to a track soon for some drift practice. Anyone in the Charlotte area or know of any good spots to learn? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Shoot me a PM.
