@DAEMANO Wendy's used to be soo much better when Dave Thomas was around. honorable mention.

Grand Prize: Cheese Krystals with a little mustard, but only when I'm drunk, and can't drive to get them. I can't wait for Uber to get their food delivery thing going, I have a feeling I'll be ordering them at 2am. These are the grand prize of burgers just because of their magical hangover healing powers.

Culvers wins 1st prize. God dang they know how to make a burger, and their french fries are really good too.

Whataburger is 2nd best. We don't have them anywhere I've lived, I've only had them on trips/vacations through the south. I'm a picky eater, and it's the only burger that I'll enjoy loaded with toppings.

3rd prize goes to Cookout. Burgers, side order of a burrito, with fries, and a shake, for less than $7.00, amazing. In Nashville we had a Checker's/Rally's until a Cookout opened across the street, they had to close up after about a month.

@WingZer0

Yeah I used to think 5 Guys was really good too, until I lived practically across the street from one. You quickly stop getting wowwed once you realize that you gained 5lbs every time you've visited the place, you sweat grease the next day after eating those fries.

Couldn't find a pic of my favorite one, it's a bacon wrapped patty with aged cheddar more bacon, caramelized onions, porto sauce and peanut butter.

Any burger with an egg in it is also great.

You're on the right track, but if you're going to make chucky soup, you can't merely "put" the contents of each can in big ol' pot.. you gotta CHUCK'em in.

Just helpin'...

I have a preference for "drug store lunch counter" burgers (goes back to spending summers with my Grandparents on their dairy farm and Thursday was "go into town with Grandma" day, we always went to the lunch counter) but since you can't get those anywhere any more about the closest to it is Waffle House.

Second place is a tie between Hardee's and Wendy's although Cook-Out (relatively new chain in this area anyway) can hold it's own.

After those, everything else is the same....(and I don't consider 5-Guys fast food, too pricy).

Though not exactly "fast" food, it is a burger joint. If you ever find yourself travelling between Toronto and Ottawa along the 401 corridor, pull off the 401 at Belleville, and give these guys a try...good burgers.

@Dadhawk If you're ever near Memphis, then check out the Silver Caboose in Collierville, TN, classic old drug store with the old soda fountain turned into a family restaurant. Not really known for a burger joint, but good catfish and meatloaf.
