5k oil change, worried about changes....

So a couple days ago I took the BRZ in for its first oil and filter change at 5,000 miles. Before the oil change I was used to shifts being a little notchy as described by others, but not to the point where I found it bothersome. Well afterwards I've noticed the shifts are quite smoother, similar as described by prest1ge here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=394308. For example, I used to almost always have issues with shifts into second, but now there is hardly any resistance, with smooth shifts into second almost every time.

I've read posts about others changing oil at 1k miles, but I kinda shrugged it off as being a little overly paranoid since the manual states 7.5k for the first oil change....but now I'm freaking out a little. Was this really due to significant amounts of metal shavings in the oil? And if so, did this cause significant wear to the engine, or was it probably minimal? I was assuming before that if there were any shavings that the filter would have caught most of them, but now I'm not so sure.....

No, your engine oil will have 0 effect on your transmission feel.

Did the ambient temps in your area change over the last few days? That can have an effect, albeit a small one and only when you first tart driving.

Yeah, not sure why you would think an engine oil change would affect your transmission in any way.
