I'm currently doing sprints/regularity (So several short 6-8 lap sessions) car is running:

UEL Headers, with a tune and Aussie 98RON petrol (So not corn juice)
RR racing BBK and STI Pinks on Bilstien B6 with 3.0 front and 2.6 rear neg camber, slight toe out at the front.

I'm happy with all of these parts of the setup, however, I'm looking for some advice on:

Tires/Tyres - Currently are 245/40 17 Hankook RS-3 on Enkei RPF-1 17x9.

Any recommendations on my next tire (size, brand, type) once these are done?

I went to Maxxis RC-1 mainly for the contingency program they have, but I really like them. They are very predictable, last quite a while, and fairly inexpensive to buy. For an R-comp I think it is a great choice.

Hi guys @CSG Mike, quick question to the track experts on what I should be looking at to correct my issue.

Issue: rear end kicks out a bit more than I would like under power - taking friends along with twins they all mention they can get on power sooner than I can during sweeping corners however, putting down power for me at around the same spot puts the rear out more than I would like

Setup:
-Ohlins R&T at 4F/5R
-stock sways
-camber -3F/-2R
-Toe 0F / 1/16R
-MPSS ~5 track days

Hypothesis:
-Tires could be heat cycled out
-could dial in rear to be softer
-could try stiffer front sways

Thoughts?

Add rear damping, or drop the car's ride height. Those would be my first two guesses; I need more info.

@CSG Mike car has been corner balanced already so I'm hesitant to change up height too much. When you say add rear damping = soften the rear?
@e1_griego 32 cold, likely high 30's hot but I'll track these more closely next time

Want something faster/grippier or longer lasting? Do you drive with them on road, or are they purely a track tyre?

RS3s have been great on my car, but I'm going to step up to a Hankook Z221 for my next set of tyres as they will be purely for the track and I'm chasing more grip.

It would typically be "stiffer".

Thanks for the feedback!. Unfortunately we don't get the Maxxis RC-1 here in Australia - would the Nitto NT-01 be a comparable choice, or is there another R-comp that you would see as potentially better?

I'm looking for faster - I don't need to do road duty on the tyres, so Z221 may be an option. It's Keith BTW Paul.

Set them hot. If you run square cold setup your hot pressures are likely very high and unequal at all tires. I run 35 hot and when checked cold that could be as low as 27 psi cold and often vary by up to 2-3 psi per wheel. Also depending on track orientation front left or right is going to be higher so i always start that one 1 psi lower thsn the rest. If I started 32 cold I'd guess I'm reaching 40 hot maybe slightly more.

Buy a longacre gauge its like 40 or 50$ and worth every penny.

@CSG Mike I'm a bit confused, wouldn't stiffer rear relative to front make the rear more loose?

I think he would recommend running a consistent tire pressure first before adjusting your suspension settings.

I was at track running faster than other guy with kwv3 and otherwise similar setup, stock tune/power. And he was much slower in a specific corner than me and he was saying his car was twitchy even though corner balanced. I was WOT in that corner and coming up behind him he obviously wasn't.

In the paddock I never saw him checking tire pressures. But he left early, maybe frustrated, so I didn't get to talk to him again
