Toyota really needs to step it up a bit and make it pull it's own weight like Nismo. At least Nissan has it's own Nismo branded car (as do other manufacturers).

Seems to me Toyota is afraid to get their hands "dirty".

My point is that I'm hoping the FT-86 can be released with some serious TRD performance.
You finally get me. I offer constructive criticism and I don't hate Toyota as I'm bias to the Japanese big 3

I totally agree because it's more geared to the younger crowd. This car might be a little to expensive for the civic/tc crowd though. I see a starting price of 23k with this car so that might help a bit.

If you say so. I might have came across a bit bold in my words.

The issue is that while anyone can rice out a car, Scion actively promotes rice and tries to get people to have their rice dealer-installed.

As for your TRD rants, I half agree. There have been discussions here about how TRD has fallen from its past. They've made some incredible parts available in the past (my wheels or my buddy's diff for example). But lately it has become an empty brand for dealers to pimp out, or to commit atrocities to its former glorious name with stuff like the Celica you referenced.

The TRD off-road parts are pretty much the last legitimate parts being made. And if you think that trucks don't 'race' oh boy...

before it was decided which brand the FT-86 would be sold under in the states we outweighed all positives and negatives and we hired 3rd party marketing companies and it took awhile. the outcome back in early 2009 is that such a car is better suited in u.s. market as a scion. trust us you will appreciate it. with the scion buying process dealers can't price gouge you with huge mark-ups because it will be a low volume car. dealers will only get one or two a month, first full year "build status" for the u.s. because it will be shared in other markets is in the very low 20k. do the math, there's just under 1000 scion dealers and 1200 toyota dealers. this could change but we highly doubt it. so to the talks about the car being "overpriced", "it should be a toyota", "it will look boxy". all i can say is, wait, because it really is just around the corner. you will see pricing and specs very soon and no it won't be squared off for scion.

also, all i can say is that potential owners and especially ethusiast will be extremely happy with the final product.
Well, guess what: We AREN'T happy about it being a Scion and we are the potential owners of this car and will take our money elsewhere if that crappy god-forsaken brand Scion gets this car. And I will put my money where my mouth is. We don't want it to be a Scion. Yes, the badge matters to me, and I know you aren't from Toyota because nobody at Toyota would be typing unprofessionally in all lower-case letter, nor would they be saying, "you guys are funny" and completely mocking the buyers for this car.

Quit spreading your stupid rumors.

i don't know why you guys knock toyota/scion interiors. we just bought a 2011 gti for testing and while it looks great we could see where they cut costs. our favorite was the glove box that wouldn't close after a number of tries, it finally did after we slammed it shut three times.
Which further proves you don't work for Toyota and don't know jack. Go look at any Toyota interior from 10 years ago, or even 5 years ago, and compare it to the current generation. Cheap plastic is now in place where a padded, soft-touch surface used to exist. Panels that were ever so tight are now mis-aligned. And using VW's cost cutting to justify Toyota's further weakens your argument. Have you not read about how VW decontented the new Jetta/Golf for 2011?

Hell, go look at the 2005-'10 tC's interior and then feel the '11. Cheap, plastic junk. Corolla? A car that would make GM proud, but is absolutely LAUGHABLE as a Toyota and does not deserve to wear the Toyota logo.

Also no real sports car lover cares about Nascar unless they think the idea of going around a oval 200 times is cool. You Toyota nut huggers need to get a grasp on reality and stop being so illogical.

Oh I just realize you own a Toyota truck. I was wondering how I struck a nerve.
I'd just like to re-iterate that I think you are an asshole.

They won't listen to you, they did a market analysis to know what we want, remember?
